Guys, one of my main sites was recently hacked into by a competitor and all the files in the root were edited to redirect my site a malicious offshore site. This was done to make the search engines drop my site's rankings to fuck knows where from page 1, page 2.

I dont want this ever happening again. I changed my ftp password, changed ftp files permissions to 755 (read/view only), updated the wordpress blog thats in my site (the rest of my site is static).

What else can I do? Some ppl recommended the McAfee scan thats like 200 bucks a year. Dont know if thatll do anything.. Any security experts or hackers on here who can help me out with some tips please. I lost a ton of money meaning my competitor was successful and dont want or need this to ever happen again.

Thanks in advance,

Rami

Do you have ssh access? Did you set file permission to 755? 755 is for directories, and 644 is for files
