Many 301 with Expireds still works?

Hey guys,

A big competitor of mine with extremely good rankings, I took a closer look. Existing since November 2017, about 20-30 Expireds have suddenly redirected per 301 to all possible subpages and since then generated 100K+ visitors within a few weeks. The Expireds are even mostly at the same hoster / IP.
The Expireds are even mostly at the same hoster / IP. If you don't want to post a domain now, it would be nasty for the operator.

Something like that still works? I thought you get a penalty with kind of this at 2018?

yes expired domains work well also redirection

According to me redirects backlink will not work !!
Its already more than 6 month gone to redirect a qualitative domain(same niche) on my main site , but still result is 0

How did you do the redirect? Was it fron the hosting level or domain level?

Was the domain you used for the redirect indexed in Google?

Many 301 with Expireds still works?
