Man, I thought I was beyond this...

Believe me, usually stuff like this doesn't affect me, but this time it did. I can see why. Due to my upbringing I always felt inadequate, especially in front of my father, who was an inventor and pretty much could do anything. I, on the other hand didn't understand anything he did or how he was able to do it. I even started reading books about all that stuff and still didn't get it. It's not easy walking in someone's shadow, especially those you care about and respect. The tough skin thing is still being developed. As a child, I would escape into the virtual world instead of building up inner defenses, but then later in life it started to bite me in the ass.

Yes, I totally feel you. I felt myself the inadequacy and not fitting in since I failed to bring myself to the family/friends standards and I've immersed myself in the world of books (which wasn't bad since reading lots of books made me very creative and open minded). Now, I don't even need that inner defense since I am letting it go. As hard as it can, I don't let anyone opinion to change my state of mind and neither to change my behavior. I just felt compassion for them and I just ignore them. I state clearly my life principles, who I am, what I do and what I want from my life, and if someone doesn't agree, I just cut it off from my life, no matter who it is. The very close family understood, didn't like it but they understood. For the rest of the world, I've gained new friends, lost some old ones, some people understood, some don't! Well, such is life!

Myself when I was playing I never state who I am, I was always trolling. It's not that I get points If I state who I am, neither do I hide, it's just that I am playing some game with random strangers, and I get the most fun of it I can from that situation.

So I'm playing an online game, right? Then some guy asks, "So what do you do for a living?" and I'm like "... I get paid to do surveys." He replies, "that's not a real job, though..not a respectable one." and I say, "but I still make money by marketing." and he's like "So basically you are a leech on society?"

Wtf, lol. I don't know why but that kind of triggered me. I know I shouldn't be that way, but wow. Anyone else ever have these types of situations? Now i'm not even sure if he was being serious, but it's still kind of annoying.

I always hated being part of the near poverty lower class and their mentality. Often times it felt like a crab bucket and whenever one tries to crawl out the others grab unto them and pull. They would always blame the rich for everything, but oftentimes wouldn't do a thing about their shit situation.

If a "Stable" and 9-5 job is respectable then I guess i'm a failure in their eyes, which is ironic considering that they wish they were better off.
Fuck him. If you make more money than an average person and you manage that on your own then you're a real hustler!

Well, No one said it on the comments already i would say this: "People will alway talk on whatever you are doing"
This is just the world we live in and if you want to survive learn HOW NOT TO GIVE A [F] about anyone's opinion.

YOU DO YOU and that's it..

I used to care about other people's opinions untill I tried paying my rent with them
In Al seriousness tho fuck what others think as long as your making money via what your doing then it ain't none of there business

how can an SJW trigger you? just say something like "there are only 2 genders"

You need to get your shit together. The faster you stop caring about what others think the faster you will be happier.

You have no idea how long I heard that "what you do is not a job" and "you should stop sitting at home "working" and come out and get high/drunk with us" and "you should get a proper job", "sitting behind a PC is not a job" etc..
Today, I have been in this business over 15 years and nobody can say shit to me. I have money, I have time (not enough), everything I need while those same people work 9-5 and cry about small salaries.

My point is, don't let other people drag you down. You have a goal so you need to stick to it. Cut off toxic people (this includes everyone, friends, family, assholes in video games).
Most people are leeches and don't do anything to provide value to the society this also means what they say about your job ain't worth shit!

Stay strong, believe in yourself and ignore toxic people!

I found it normal, I still member a guy who was saying I am going to die with cancer and my blood is dirty and the reason was, I killed him twice in Dota 2. I love games too.
