Hey there IM Lords, I'm a newb here and needed some direction from the pros.

I have a fitness facebook group that I started around a year back and worked on it for like a month or 2 before abandoning it because life happened. Now that I'm drowning in my father's medical bills and debts with only the foresight of an even darker future with no hope, I can only see two ways out, ending it or making something online and I thought let's try the latter option first hehe.

The group seems to have blown up a little since then on its own & there are around 13k members in the group right now. I'm also getting around 200-500 members every week. It was as high as 1700 last week.

So like the title says, I was hoping to make some moolah with this unexpected surprise but I'm not sure how exactly to do it without spamming & degrading the group quality. And I'm not even sure if I'm sitting on a gold mine or a junkyard.

The problem is that this was a public group with no moderation so as you can imagine, the spammers are rampant. Meaning the group was dead with an average post getting a reach of 15-25 views and 0-2 reactions. Also, there's a lot of fitness businesses in my group like steroids sellers, gym equipment sellers, personal trainers, coaches etc.

After taking back the command, I've turned on 1st time participant approval and only approving guys who seem genuine or those who've gotten an above average reach with their posts in the past. This seems to have improved the situation considerably with an average reach now being 45-200 views with a few posts reaching even 1k views and average reactions ranging from 4-7 now.

So, do you know of any ways to capitalize on this group or is it not worth the time?
I was thinking of collecting emails from new members using the participant question feature and giving them some free pdf in exchange. I would probably try to sell them ClickBank offers later. Let me also know if you know of a better way to do this.

Any other ideas are also welcome, please help.

You'll have to work much harder than this if you want to pay off medical bills. Its probably beyond your capacity to earn enough to avoid "ending it" and if you are coming from this point of view, then really building a business is beyond your current capacity, as your head isn't in the game.

Go make your life easy and work at an offline store or something. Your commitment already isn't going to give you an income anytime soon. You have to learn to think realistically, and plan and execute well to make money. Turning up after quitting months/years ago, and hoping to somehow leap frog all the people who are already working for years without quitting, isn't really facing up to reality. Sure you might get lucky. But the internet has so many dead ends, you'll spend a lot of time with those before you find something that works.

Keep plugging away with your ventures, but goodness sake, don't think that one badly managed FB group with an offer or 2 will suddenly pave the way to your dreams.

I already have an offline job and besides, you make good points, disheartening as they may be, that might be my reality but I'm really trying to disillusion myself with some false hope here to keep going. Anything to start chipping away at the wall :)

I think collecting emails is on the right track. Try offering CPA offers as well. this might come useful in the long run.

Sell it.
