I for one, actually believe SEO rules :D
I wanna know specifically about the ROI in both these trades, both at beginner and advanced stages.

No plagiarism, please be specific on SEO overriding a Programmer, how is that possible??

Biased community to ask such verdict. Little Programmers more SEO folks.

So what you are trying to say is that full stack programer earns less than $5 fiver gig?

it is more about the idea you got than the tool you use

That's true but I don't know many forums that are neutral on both of these. I'd rather seek people's opinion on the same for more thoughts on the same :)

LoL, I guess you're not comparing apple to apples. There are tons of $5 gig for programming as well :anyway:

Nice one, a very valid point as with the right idea, one can hire experts for both Programming and SEO.
Thanks!

Totally different fields? Very biased question buddy....The one who's best at SEO is probably the person who finds it interesting. That's usually how things work on this small planet called earth.

IMO Programming is much higher risk/higher reward than SEO.

You have huge potential to make serious $$$ through a start-up, SAAS, web or mobile app. But programming is difficult to learn, isn't "fun" for a lot of people, and the industry is quickly becoming worse and worse to work in. Look at how average salaries are dropping around first world countries compared to outsourced developers.

SEO, on the other hand, is arguably much easier to get into with almost zero start-up cost (low risk). Tons of great free resources out there using tools you likely already know (Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, Youtube etc). You can go from nothing to making a couple hundred $$$ in much less time than it takes for programming something.

But in the end, whoever is skilled at either (or is willing to put more time into it) will be more successful.

why not both am a computer science student and i learn SEO too we are young and we have time :)

There's more than one way to earn from both fields. In programming, you could create software that sells millions of units a year. However, if you are buying businesses you can use SEO to increase their profits. There are 87 cities just in the U.S. that are at least 250,000 population, a few small businesses in each of the cities would bring in a large amount of revenue every year.

WTF is this thread about?

Well there isn't a programmer x SEO debate. They're completely different things.

What you're asking is like engineer x bananas. They're different things, engineers don't compete with bananas.

For example, I am a software engineer, I have technical knowledge and expertise to optimize and streamline processes and increase overall performance of systems. But I don't know anything about SEO, IM, PPC, CTA, ETC
Why don't I team up with someone which has expertise in these areas and form a team?
