I hate the fact YouTube now picks certain YouTube accounts for full partnerships. This monetization thing is crap because we as the video uploaders with good quality content should be able to make a living also. All my vids have thousands of views i have over 1,000 subs but I still fail to reach my potential. Maybe it's my niche which is music that's holding me back I don't know. I think YouTube should do a lot better for its monetization program. Does anyone also feel this way?

Do you own the copyright to the music you upload?
 
I just started creating videos on youtube. Haven't thought about monetizing them yet. I do think it's unfair to hand select those that are worthy in Google's eyes.
 
If you get 1000 views a day I can partner you through my network.
 
1,000 subs is nice but I can't see any way that you could make a living off of that on any site...not just youtube.
 
Why would you wanna make a living off of youtube, the money coming from youtube is not a good source for primary income unless your extremely popular like Fred.

Thats true. That's why I'm trying to find ways to grow my audience. I know some of those guys paid their way to 200k subs and above

The guy who sounds like gay fish? Lol no way. I rather you have said Soldier Knows Best, but you have a solid point. I think all the newbies will have to find unique ways to get to their status. I'm trying to do what red hook noodles is doing. He has 63k subs

As a person not like Fred (albeit that I have talked to him in the past and theres about a hundred more people that make more than him) I can say that I make a substantial income from Youtube and if I were to stop my other sources I'd still have a huge income soley from Youtube.

Yeah, I started to learn how to make beats too, but it's hard to get views since a lot of people are doing that. Noodles has a unique sound + millions of views + he's been there for a while, which is why he has lots of subscribers.

YT has never been my sole income but, for a time, it was a huge chunk of it. The key with YT is that you have to offer something unique. The thing that pisses me off about a lot of BHW members on YT is that they simply upload these terrible (and I mean terrible) marketing videos for whatever stupid affiliate program they're involved with and then bitch and moan about how YouTube doesn't work for them. Yeah, well...that's because you don't know how to use it. {Rant Over}

Anyway, yes...it is possible to make a living off of YouTube but I find it best to use it as a supplemental income alongside other projects.
 
You must be very patient with youtube. One moment you're struggling with some views, and the next one, BOOM. You need to be patient, but try doing other things too during the time :)

Your definitely right about that, there are tons of producers on YouTube. I wish I would have started on YouTube when it wasn't so many producers! Lol Early bird gets the worm I guess.
