Making a gym room for myself. Need some tips, help.

TRX!

Don't get an All-in-One.

And remember, having whatever equipment won't get you fit, motivation to use it does!

Get a Squat Cage, bench, Olympic barbell, and weights. You can do so many compound exercises with these 4 things.

Get a TRX home suspension kit. It's excellent for toning your body. Best thing I have in my home gym :D

Ignore Logician, he has no clue what he is on about haha.
It's not necessary to go to a gym? Depending on what goals? If you wanna look average sure, but if you want to compete you have to go gym for a decade. hahaha.

LOL, yeah you're right. You silly troll.

Sent you a message on Skype. I have a membership at a super sport gym,and depending on your goals, it's really not necessary to go to a gym. Even most supplements is a waist of time and money.

I gained nearly all my 10 lbs this month at home, before signing onto a gym so Logician is legit. I just don't have a bench at home.
Not taking fancy supps either and only get a scoop of whey for shits and giggles.

What he said about training for a decade to compete? For Olympia maybe but nobody's aiming for that here. Train & eat right and you'll be competing within a couple years, some have great genetics.

I do everything at home

1. I have a dual adjustable pully http://www.lifefitness.com/commerci...ableMotion/multiuse/dualadjustablepulley.html sick machine for all the weird stuff

2. a pair of adjustable dumbells up to 85lbs a bench i know that I can press way more than that but it is unnecessary to train with more weight than that.

3. I have a set of medicine balls

4. a tread mill cause i prefer to run indoors (truly an american)

That is my whole gym it's all i need to work every muscle group

Exactly.

Unless he is in love with machine weights, or wants to use the gyms pool, everything can be done at home. Free weights, and cardio, that's all that is needed. We have a few professional UFC fighters in my area, and the majority of their workouts is not in a gym

Like I said, I do have a gym membership, and I use it. But my point was that if he can get some free weights, he really doesn't need a gym membership because he can do all the same workouts at home. With cardio, I prefer running outside. Treadmills suck in my opinion. You can get a lot quicker results running uphill in high altitudes vs a gym treadmill.

if you want to compete you have to go gym for a decade
I guess.. But if he really needs to train for a decade to get the results he wants, then I would recommend getting a trainer and/or coach before he gets a gym membership. Depending on whatever you believe he is competing for.

Hi Lietuvis, If you want to get some muscle mass quite fast i suggest you to read 4 hour body by tim ferriss. It may be little bit overhyped, but it helped me gain muscle lot quicker then my friends who went to gym for 1-2 hours almost everyday.

You don't need so many tools aka a gym to get an attractive body. I only do 6 types of exercises. I only use my body-weight and dumbbells. And got huge chest and arms. All done in my home. Never went to gym in my whole life.

Depends on the type of workout you want to do.

Do you want to train like an athlete or like a bodybuilder?

If Bodybuilder you want a bench, maybe a squat rack, assorted dumbells, barbells and different plates. You can hit just about everything like that.

If athlete I suggest get a mat for the floor, some kettlebells, boxes of various heights, jump rope, barbell and various weights etc...

I've been going to the gym on and off for 3-4 years and I've never socialized there. If you are serious about your body, you're there to train, not to chit chat about miley cyrus getting banged while being high on meth.

If you are serious about your body you should work your mind with it or you'll become one of those testosterone monkeys. You don't need to work out like a psycopath in order to be serious about your body.

Pic of huge chest and arms.

So you assume if someone is serious about his body then he is automatically a testosterone monkey? That is the thought of an average joe who believes that everyone who has a better body than the average joe is a "testosterone monkey". Well. How about you become a testosterone monkey AND work on your mind? You can have both. I never said you have to work out like a psycopath, merely that suggesting "socializing" as a reason to go to a gym is utterly stupid. So to summarize, work on your mind and your physique. You don't have to stick to one, as you may believe.

I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!, Lookig forward for more help!! :)))

What's your goal then? Nobody asked you what you want to achieve so far...!

If you want to get lean and athletic, buy yourself a treadmill, position it in front of the TV and enjoy 2 hours of cardio every morning, combine that with calisthenics and you're rocking to go!

If you want to bulk up, get yourself a solid bench and go for bench pressing with barbells. All you need for this is short&wide barbells and a set of weights (you can find those used on craigslist for next to nothing). Plus you can train every single muscle in your body with those barbells.

The best piece of equipment to train efficiently is your brain! Consume knowledge and not supps.. (not saying supps are bad, just not as important as knowledge!) Go read on sites like Bodybuilding.com and t-nation.com and go from there!

Definitely a squat rack with weights and a bench with some dumbbells.

That way you can do any important exercise for your body.

I suggest you start mastering all compound exercises.

Cheers!

Well the truth is most people I know who are serious about their body, to the point of becoming unbearable to be around, are testosterone monkeys. You see, people who don't work their minds end up that way, it's just the way it is and unfortunately they'll join a gym and think that's it, fuck the mind.... They spend $600 on fart powders that destroy intestines and kidneys then go around the streets with stretched shirts and looking like monkeys who can't even talk to girls.

The most fit people I know are marathon runners, not weight lifters. THOSE are serious about their bodies. Too bad most gym monkeys can't run 5 miles without spilling their guts out.

I would buy 1 Ez-bar for good biceps and triceps workouts, 1 bench bar so you can bench, do dead-lifts and military lifts, I would also buy some Dumbbells. And get a pull up bar! In my opinion this is what you need :) and of course you need some weights for your bars. Good luck man. :D
