Making 100 cold calls today.

best of luck to you, it will build your phone stamina once you practice regularly.

In my opinion, real business owners won't even take you seriously at that low of a price point. We sell for no less than $2500, and no less than $500 monthly for SEO. Normally we get both.

I should add that I do face-to-face and not cold calling however.

Can you point us to the way how you got your targeted leads? Did you just hire someone to find crappy websites?
I really appreciate your help and good luck with cold calling. I am thinking of doing the same too. I am just not sure what would be the best place to get the potential leads from!

Thanks.

I'm going to start cold calling businesses in my area too tomorrow. I'm offering custom web design ($500 - $4000 -- I'm a web development freelancer) and hopefully I'll get some sales.

The last time I did cold calling for my first time I got 1 potential sale within the first 4 calls for a real estate company but I moved too slow and lost it (okay, so I was like a week late in getting back to them, no biggie). This time I'll move *a lot* faster!

For one of my potential clients I already did a high quality website redesign (index page) so I can bring it up!

It's all very good to motivate people to cold call and show we can do it, etc. But the problem is that it's very inneficient. You are only one of you yourself, calling one person at a time.

Out of the dials you'll make, some are inexistent numbers, others no one was there answering the phone, others you either can't get past the gatekeepr, or if you do and they are willing, the owner isn't there, and then it's when you can start measuring your % of sucess when you can actually speak with the owner.

I've been there. Can it work? Yes. Can I do it? I can. I'm good at talking with people. Do I like it? No. I can do it. But it's highly inneficient in my opinion, especially because everyone and their aunt does websites nowadays.

Cold Calling takes like a week to make some Good Value Output..It took my team around 2 weeks to make 1st Sale..(it was 5 months old Story)..Do not Loose Hope.>Try try ..make Pitch more powerful..More COnvincing your Call it is more chance for you to get client.
Now a days In Type Calling is to find a Crappy design site, make or redesign it on your own server with Brilliant look etc..make a Proposal and Fax the Owner Your Own Server demo which you redesigned and offer him what you want to charge!!!If he like his site and love your design..he 100% will pay you for design which you already made..if he does not then Onbviously you can find same industry crapy other site and change few things and show him the same piece..

I've stopped doing this, and here's the reason: you're working for free, doing or creating a mockup-slash-proposal to show to your prospect, either showing him in person or sending him an email with a link to the mockup that you created and you're hosting on one of your domains. This, with no guarantee you are going to even be considered. Now, there are methods here on this forum and even salesman that can make presentations without any guarantee to their prospects, but they usually do this on high ticket priced items, because if they do follow through and end up getting the job, it's a significant amount of money that was worth the average time spent on doing this free work. In your case you're pricing yourself a little too low.

As human beings, we like the status quo. And it takes something, a shift, to make any one of us to get out of it. Making a move out of something that is familiar or comfortable is not typical behavior. And people will still prefer the status quo, or, if that is not acceptable, go with a familiar solution. Cold calling isn't that: we're a stranger.

But don't let me talk you out of this. Cold calling works, but it's just not an optimal way to go about getting leads.

I'm looking for a cold caller to sell SEO packages for my agency. Please private message me for details.

Cheers!

Basically, I have a source of great leads for people who need new websites, and myself and my business partner will be calling 100 people a day, every day this week. Flat. Watch what happens.

I have a VERY nice landing page setup(if any respected members want to give some tips, I'll pm it to you, but I'm not open to showing it to the public), and I'm trying to get $300 per website redesign, with a turnaround time of 1 week.

If I call 100 people with shitty websites a day, I should DAMN sure be able to make cash in my pocket, TODAY. Watch listen and learn with me.

Take action... the adage so cliche it's dismissed every damn time, but it's really all it takes. The worst salesmen in the world still pays his bills...

dude your badass!

good luck we all hope you succeed

I've started cold calling myself (experiment - see how I feel about it) but I don't have any services to offer. Good luck mate! Can't wait to hear your results.

Good luck! I was doing telemarketing cold calling a warm list for grabbing mortgage leads a couple of years. It really depends on your personality and motivation to get people to convert. I'm sure you guys have it.

I tried cold calling in the past. Doing a free mock-up. For me it did not result in any sales. I got a few back and forth emails, etc. but no sales. I stopped around 250. I was amazed at how many people liked their woefully outdated website, also.

Good Luck, keep us posted

Maybe all the nobs in BHW should follow your thread mate. I'm a nob in webdesigning, but I'm good in SEO and other things, so I should follow you too.

EDIT: Forgot to wish you. Good luck mate.

I will also let you guys know when i start a new one..

A tip for you guys in finding businesses is to go on the CL service section. Here you'll find lots of start-up businesses, and small businesses that are offering things varying from lawn mowing services, house cleaning, all the way up to construction and roofing, and towing services to plumbing, all kinds of leads. Most people leave a phone number, and you can see whether or not usually 9 times out of 10 if they have a website to go along with it...Not everyone will post their website on CL, but most people will if they have one.

Do you use your home number/mobile number to call these businesses or you hire a new number ?

Reply would be appreciated.

And best of luck :)
