Macbook Pro yes/no and why

Well , I think im going to go with Windows. Mac is great, but I really can't afford one right now. I don't really need a powerful machine at the moment.
I'll buy a macbook in the future for sure, if I scale my IM earnings.
Thanks everyone for the help!
You may now continue the discussion...

Okay, so I'm telling this to you as I own a macbook pro which I use with bootcamped windows 7. Don't buy MBP unless you are a programmer who wants to develop software for apple devices. If you are not it's just a waste of money. You don't have control over your hardware, refit restricts you from managing bios stuff 100%. If you are blackhat stay windows as it is efficient or go Linux.

you know windows is the way to go if you plan to have a system that can adapt to required softwares, ect...
Macbook might be good if you plan to use it for personal use, syncing up your iphone and ipad, other media devices.
But yes you can dual book windows on the system...and this is def a option...perhaps even the best option ...

I think most of the money go to "branding". I am sure you can get a couple of nice laptop for the price to a mac

You're wrong. I've bought several Macs in the past and always ended up returning them. Sure, Windows may be shit, but I couldn't get used to working with a Mac for the life of me.

Sorry mate but I'm calling BS on this, this statement doesn't fit with anything else you have said in the thread at all.

@OP I hope your happy with your decision and your new machine helps you earn some cash.

Most BH stuff is better to use on a vps or dedicated server than on any home computer especially not a laptop due to faster internet and being able to run longer without any stops.

Did you contact human resources? Workplace conflict resolution is important to them.... :)

Yeah, I did. But me told myself that I should shut the fuck up and just work on the computer that suits me. :)

Reading comprehension isn't your strong side, is it? Fuck forbid that a strong advocate of common sense would actually give something a try or two, to see what the neverending fuss is about.

Students get almost 20% off Apple stuff in the UK at least, good for non-VAT registered companies. Still wouldn't buy a MacBook. iMac has been tempting me for some time to buy for the company's soon to be office, since it doesn't have that many PC alternatives... oh wait, Dell, HP, Acer, Asus and Samsung to mention a few do all in ones. Just stick to the PCs like I do people, would have installed Windows on the Mac anyways, admit it!

People only look at hardware but completely neglect the software.
Just like the iPhones/Android war, the OSX is much more OPTIMIZED for its hardware.

Its made to suit only 1 series of machine, unlike Windows which its to be used, abused and saturated by whichever company wants to.

Also, its very clear that OSX has more resitrictions than windows, its not as flexible and customizable as windows, which is true.
But I think this is exactly why Macs last longer than windows, because you throughout time you dont clog and overabuse your HDD and other parts with unnecessary files/programs/processes.

Also games eat a shitton of resrouces. Not being able to really play them on mac provides longer life.

If you are editing video as a profession, get a mac. If its just a hobby and "some" gaming get a cheap windows and recycle it every 2 years.

Also btw, there are lots of games on Mac. I used to play fifa 12(back then the latest) at school when I was bored in class, without lag or nothing.
The hardware from a 1.5-2k$ machine is more than enough to run a video game.

P.S.: Macs not heating its utter bullshit. When I was playing FIFA, if you put your hand right at the monitor/keyboard space, it used to be hotter than a fucking stove. You could put a piece of chicken and use it as a grill.

But yeah, dont hard game :P

Gaming doesn't degrade the life of a computer, and Macs are not overall best for professional video editing. A custom Linux or Windows computer is the best for professional video editing where the processing power is very important. If one is doing video editing as a hobby or small time then yes a Mac is okay.

A HDD on a mac can clog up if one is installing a ton of programs and downloading a ton of files onto it. But on both you have the option of uninstalling programs no longer used and backing up files onto an external HDD.

Bad attempted at a recovery mate, better luck next time :)

Macs are specifically designed for professionals. Is it music, photoshop, CAD, video editing etc.
always pick Mac.
Didn't read you 2nd paragraph. I bet it has as much "truth" as your 1st.

To those who say windows sucks.Yep it does , but it has biggest software collection and you can't beat it with mac/linux.
To those who say mac sucks. Yep it dose , it has less software but still if you are looking for productivity/user experience then windows can't beat it.

There are many high end laptops from dell/sony you can't say that they are slow/non reliable. To those who say Macs are overpriced , look at high end laptops and the cost difference will not be much.

Fuck you who are fighting, I will use both. (both have own advantages and i won't harm my productivity by sticking to one)

So why do Mac Desktops only have 1 cpu if its for video editing and cad?

I bought ASUS N550JK-DS71T a month ago. Current amazon price: $979.00 & FREE Shipping
I only need to upgrade it to SSD, and for the price it beats the shit out of Macbook Pro! Almost exact same aluminum design. Beautiful finish. Double FAN cooling system, I am playing Batlefield with this baby sitting in my lap.

Somehow threads like this always generate the most interest in a forum full of computer enthusiasts. :)

You need to determine what you will use the computer for because the way I see it all computers pretty much do the same thing but you just need to familiarize yourself with the programs you are using and the OS you are running.

I see Macs as expensive computers with specs that could be had for more affordable models. Looks-wise, yes the Apple logo will definitely make heads turn (in my part of the world at least). I was able to use an iMac and a MB Pro (all owned by a friend) and performance-wise I was not blown away. It's pretty much the same thing. I've been using Windows OS though so being on Mac required that I learn a few stuff. Over all I still went back to Windows because for me it is the easiest platform to use.
