Low-Budget Proxy Server with City-Specific IPs – DIY Solutions?

Hey everyone!

I’d like to set up a proxy server, but I have no idea where to start or how to do it.

Basically, I need IP addresses from different cities within the same country. That’s my main goal.

My budget is low, so I’m looking for any kind of DIY solution. Any advice?

If you want the cheapest and simplest option, go with VPS-based proxies. Just rent VPS servers from different cities and set them up as proxies. This works well for basic web scraping and general online tasks.

I think it will be cheaper to rent proxies.
 
Much cheaper to just go with a residential proxy provider

You can set up your own proxy server by renting virtual servers in different locations. Then, you can configure these servers to act as proxies. This is a budget-friendly option, but it will require some basic technical skills to set everything up.
 
AWS ips will work for you or you need ISP/residential ips in your DIY solution?

If you're on a budget and need city-level IPs, here are a few DIY options:

Raspberry Pi + Mobile Data – Set up Raspberry Pis in different cities with SIM cards. Use Squid or 3proxy for a cheap residential proxy.
Cloud VPS – Providers like Vultr or DigitalOcean let you spin up servers in multiple cities. Install Squid Proxy and you're good to go.
ISP IP Rotation – If your home ISP gives dynamic IPs, reconnecting can change your IP (automate with a script).

If DIY is too much, check PacketStream or SOAX for cheap city-targeted proxies. all of these should work
