Local SEO using PBNs

The safety of your PBN and money site is tied to how you set up your networks.

10 PBN is no big deal if they are all hosted on different hosting and IPs.

This doesn't mean that you can't use one hosting company over and over again
but it's wise to have a large number of hosting companies that you rotate your PBN on.

The reason is, some companies offer shared hosting and your PBN could get picked up in the same IP
which is a bad business for you. You either get a dedicated hosting or space the intervals you buy same
hosting service.

they domains goes on the same host (not seo host) but each domains got a dedicated ip address.

I have niche specific sites in my PBN, high PR, and they do the trick for local. I pick and choose which sites to link from, and I have different hosting. Additionally, I use Cloakhosting for some of the sites. I try to make the location of the sites random, and the links from these cites are pick and choose random. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info above. Months passed, I did not use any PBNs to rank for local biz site after much reconsideration. What I did this 3 mths was to write high quality articles and then ask for them to publish in local well known bloggers sites and also some local authority sites. Some were free but mostly I paid for them 1 time fee to publish on their sites.
Result is very good, from page 3 now sitting at no.7 on page 1. Keywords competition level is very high as it is related to photographer course and services.
Total spent less than $200 for articles and fee for the webmasters.

The business is a freelance and without biz registered or physical address, if not, will try on the local citation service here, as I believe it will be much better.

Create a Q and A section on the website with an e-mail address for readers to submit questions to.

Syndicate this feed out to local news sites and local newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, and popular local sites so they can have a recurring some fresh content in exchange for a link.

I would pass PBN for local websites and go for local directories and citations. Good reviews are also awesome help for leads.

what would be the most 5 important sites for local business reviews?

G+ (Android map users)
Yelp (iPhone users map)
Yahoo Local
LinkedIn endorsements
Facebook
Insider Pages
City Search

On the topic of the thread - I would not use PBN unless it is very competitive niche. Here is a link from moz for the local ranking factors links are only 18% so you can focus on the rest and see where it gets you.

If you are still behind, I would go and build a PBN for my client. Starting with 1 domain and going up. Google it and you will find out how to build a PBN with no footprint. It is investment but it is worth it if you can't rank just by following the rules.

I specialise in local lead generation for bathroom renovators and all i can say without my PBN i would be making no money. I don't need many links from my PBN just enough but I also include links from high authority local and niche directories to diversify.

Also, using different A class IPs for your PBN can make a big difference.

PBN are great for local lead gen, it works best when you have tons of PBN domains and rank good!

I have a few clients (local) that i use PBN links on...

The results are awesome!

You have to be 100% sure the network is built properly before placing links to a local clients site. You can do more damage than good if you don't know what your doing!

What about multiple "focused" PBNs? For example say you are a plumber in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and you have one set for plumbing (the actual trade or service)and the second PBN set up to give juice to Pittsburgh and all the townships outside it for location (the geo location)?

Since none of the "experts" have commented, I'll take a whack...

From what I understand, the content of the site itself is irrelevant to the juice that it can pass along from a link.

Any strong PBN set of sites will pass juice, but the question will be for how long? For the investment of time and effort, you want it to last. BTW, if it is for a paying customer, you might want to think twice...see Techxan's comments above, as there is a lot to get "right" in setting it up.

Depends on what you mean by "focused", but it needs to look "natural" to pass manual inspection by G.

If you mean that all the sites within a PBN are "focused" on a narrow set of topics, something like that might create a footprint. More "natural" are links to the "money site" coming from a "variety" of sources - at least, natural enough to pass G's algorithmic detection.

Did anyone notice this is a 6+ month old thread? My heard jumped when I saw Techxan thinking this was a recent post.

Ha. :lmao:

Monitoring for "new" posts, easy to click on these, and on a short one like this, same reaction.

Thanks for replying, I do appreciate any and all help.

So if I designed a PBN which featured the various neighborhoods of Boston or Philadelphia with information like where schools, rec centers, types of housing, etc.... and then a PBN on carpentry/remodeling and pointed both to my Boston historic home remodeling website, I would double dip? Doing so would be beneficial... in theory.

A goal would be the top stonepointing or wainscotting expert on old homes in these neighborhoods.

Answer is yes, they would each add link juice. They need to look sufficiently different / unique from each other to avoid detection, if your goal is to make this last.

But, I wonder if you are assuming it is the network providing the juice as an entity....it is the individual website that does so. The PBN is really a collection of websites used to provide links from. These websites never should be detectably related to each other (e.g. never a link from one to the other).

So, your separation of neighborhoods vs carpentry/remodeling is really irrelevant. Having links from either type of website to a wainscoting expert website effectively makes them part of the "same PBN", if you know what I mean - you own all those websites, and any link from them is your PBN for that money site.

Hence, you want to be careful with your linking strategy (e.g. don't link all your neighborhood websites to your wainscoting website at the same time, such as after your sixth article on each). You'll need to spread them out and on different topics. Also, your publishing pattern on each neighborhood site ideally ought to be on different topics - though the same topic can be published at different random times across each, with sufficient spinning / editing to make them look different.

Anyway, I hope this gives you a better picture of how this works.

I would highly recommend you post any additional questions on the following thread, as Alex and others there have been quite helpful in guiding many...

... this thread is old, and, unfortunately, Techxan has since passed away, but do heed his advice above.
