I just ranked a local dentist site with about 1,000 searches/month in the top 10 with nothing but 3 PR5 links. Main factors are: Google places address matches website address exactly, citations that match exact address, high PR links and reviews. 80/20 your SEO efforts. Focus on the stuff that matters and ignore the other BS.
