Local SEO Keyword Advice

Hello All. I received a new client and well local keywords such as "plaster + city name" or "stucco + city name" and drywall + city name" are looking pretty bad. No traffic at all. Should I just try to rank "plaster" or "stucco" or "drywall"? or Try a nearby city?

Have you been researching how many searches those keywords are getting per month?

Yes, each of the terms gets 50 and below traffic a month. So that I why I am asking if I should try a nearby city for the same keywords or try to rank them without the city.

- how big the city is, this is the main question as traffic could be 10 times even 100 times more depending on city
- plaster NYC? I am not sure this is what I would type if I am a buyer; use more variations of main keywords
- 50 search per month is small but for local it could be ok though, if you find many others - as local traffic stats are probably wrongly measured anyway.

If the volume is so low you could start adwords campaign as well , along with seo, because you won't get more than 2-3 clicks/day anyway so it won't burn your bank account..

Yes, AdWords is already in the plan, these keywords are going for like .50 - 1.00 which are super cheap.

What other services does your client provide?
I agree with safeseoboost, plaster NYC would get the wrong crowd. Lol I mean you could get some drunken orders, maybe. But that's a stretch.

Try thinking outside the box I guess.
I imagine there's a different way to market this client's business.
You could even suggest or do a guest post on podcasts or other media outlets about the type of work they do.
I'm just throwing out ideas. Maybe there's a trade show or some sort of home remodeling fair in the town they could attend and market at? So many avenues.

As a bonus, if you get those media outlets to advertise your client's biz, you can see what Kwds they're using to market your biz. Also find fb ads or groups around that client's biz, and steal ideas/Kwds from there.

Plaster work is usually done by handymen or home improvement or painting companies, maybe try to target this keywords too.

i council you use Mangools for find better local search volumes of keywords, or find new local related keywords.

Yes for my location it is "city + painter", "city + handymen" & "city + pressurewasher". "Stucco + city", plaster + city" are not good keywords at all.
