Local Business SEO: Need some advice.

Hi everyone!

Currently I am working with friend, who owns electronic devices repair service. They have a custom made website, and few months ago I dived into SEO (absolutely new thing for me) and optimized few of their pages. They were like page/services-phone-repair/.

I was trying to rank for keyword "phone repair in this city". And same for all 5-6 other services. Only 2 ranked to Google Page 3.

I think the problem is that page does not have any backlinks. I am starting to work towards it and e-mailed few blogs which accepted to trade backlinks for some quality guest posts.

Also, I want to rank business in the google snack pack or it's called Google 3 Pack. But have no idea how I am going to do that. The business has 27 reviews (genuine, from clients) on Google. Somehow business that has 9 reviews gets into the Google 3 Pack.

So I wanted to ask you forum members for advice, what could I add more to the website, to rank for atleast page number 1? Also, what can I do to get into the Google 3 Pack?

1. Add content related to keyword you want to rank.

3. do internal linking to different pages of the websites.
4. add blogs to the website and frequently add new posts.
5. Meta tags, sitemap xml, robotos.txt, image alt tags. Complete all your on page SEO work.

All above points are most important thus required special attention.

I would say hire a responsible SEO company or an expert who will do this for you. They will be definitely in your budget & also will work professionally according to your demands & goals. As long as the main domain has a social profile and is active has a few links from a few locations you shouldn't need much more than that*

I've managed to rank local pages for SERVICE + LOCATION with no backlinks to the page just a decent bit of content and making sure the keyword ratio is correct. Tech service stuff (repair) depending on if your client is commercial or domestic you might be better off trying to target the smaller towns and subsections of that city than the whole city/region.


*Depending on the city + KW combo that is.

1. Create a Yelp!
2. Search local "Craigslist" groups on Facebook, join a few, make sure they have a large enough amount of people (reach) combined.
3. Create a post explaining your services (SEO) on Facebook and post it in the groups, link to your Yelp page, which links to your website.
4. Thank me later

Rinse and repeat the above method switching between the Yelp link and your website, post max 3 times per week to avoid spamming, make the posts informative and new each time, for some reason I feel like getting a business ranked/visited on Yelp massively helps local (and it's easy to drive traffic/rank Yelp using Facebook).

Keep doing what you're doing, with enough reviews and visits he'll eventually rank locally, persistence is key.

Alternatively, you can go to your local Walmart and buy yourself a trusty old printer and print money instead of actually working hard like you do.
