Living sober is boring

A lot of negative effects do you're research
Do you have any problems with it? I personally don’t. I am a heavy drinker when it comes to coffee. Often times I end up taking in much more than daily caffeine intake limit. Till date, I have not had any problems. I don’t take sugar or milk with coffee though. May be that’s why I didn’t have any problem yet.

Now coming to the internet, take any food name and add “bad effects” to that. You will find atleast one article about it.

Don’t believe the internet. The day my doctor says stop coffee, I will stop it.

You have a problem if you listening to you're doctor.

boredom is the hardest part of sobriety... if you're bored, you're doing it right

filling your time with something worth spending time on is the next hardest step, i still sit at a pc most of my day
my therapist says that can be considered an addiction, and we're always looking to replace addictions with addictions :D

When you get addicted to something, that's how you really see things..

people who don't have addictive personality will never understand what you are saying... Look into NAC supplement.

First of all, congrats. Second, if you have any serious addictions id quit those first before cutting everything all together.

I'm a bit over a year sober from everything except weed. And over two months off weed. The latter was just a t break that idk if I'll quit until at least December. No reservations.

I'm like you. Extremist for all. I only drink coffee now. Never got into nicotine. But I drink like 40oz of coffee a day.

I had to get sober because I was losing myself. It started bc I went on tour in the US across the music festival circuits. Touring with the wooks. I finished a fake college internship so I was literally getting school credit to go to music festivals, help my DJ friend on his visuals (vjing) and trapping. But one mishap over spring break put me on probation for trafficking. So I had to quit smoking. Which led to doing K regularly bc drug tests allowed it. Turned into a nasty habit. 4-28g a week. One festival in Suwanee, Tipper and Friends, I did nearly 2oz myself. Lost a gf of 4 years due to the ordeal. Lost a full scholarship too.

That was back in 2020 and I've been trying to find a nice “medium” ever since lol. I think you nailed it best at all or nothing. Everytime i’d try to have one foot in the door and one foot out, id end up sniffing a Q of K in one night w some random spunion. Ever since 2020 I've cut out the friends and associates that live like that. Takes a long fucking time when you've met a few thousand hippies from Rothsbury to Tampa to LA... I'd still try to do it “like a normal person” every now and then.... That simply looked like benders. A year ago I decided I wouldn't get anywhere in thae cycle. I admittedly smoked weed heavily to get out of my head when I craved the K. But baby steps. AnywYs... Here's what I did:

1. Downhill longboarding. Love it. Fucking love it.
2. Biking. I bike 100-200 miles a week. I live downtown in a college city so it's reasonably easy. And convenient. I often bike to Kroger for fresh ingredients for dinner.
3. Got back focusing my time on digital marketing shenanigans and experiments. Do anything. Create YouTube. Or some meme pages. Or a website you will plot out the sales funnel for extensively.
4. Cooking. I eat very healthy and love to eat well. I do not eat out. I have a snack around brunch and then one real, proper meal after 4-6pm. It doesn't have to be elaborate. I simply love shopping fresh vegetables etc. Anything to fill your time helps.
5. Gym. I started with dumbells and an ab wheel. Anytime I got in my head id rock out a set on the ab wheel.
6. Vacation with my parents. Before I would spend $1k+ on music festivals each month. Albeit I made much more whole there.. It was easy to justify taking my parents to the beach and enjoy some sober time.
7. Reading. I fucking love to read. So much. I go through a lot of books.
8. Coffee shop. I'd get a coffee and read or do some work for the marketing clients I have.
9. Routines. I wake up every day and clean my appt. Even if it's not dirty. Sweep at minimum.

That's all I can think of bro. Otherwise I just had to take it ‘one day at a time’ as they say. Really after the first month the cravings for any bad habit goes down exponentially. Whether it's cigarettes, coffee, ketamine, mcdonalds, etc. Replace your bad habits with good ones. If you are like me, and love to disassociate, then try to practice mindfulness. Sounds corny but works. Sometimes if I am really in a fiend moment or just absolutely bored out of my skull ill go to an AA/NA meeting. No lie, one hour there and I remember exactly why I want nothing to do with that lifestyle. The misery in those rooms is eye opening.

Good luck w your sobriety. Remember, if there's something that's specifically leading to your downfall, target it first. Without a blanket sobriety. I have seen many fail in their sobriety because they try to quit everything at once and simply lose their mind. Alternatively, though, I've seen people quit one thing and then double the intake of another other . Leading me to believe time management is your best friend in this journey.

#YOLO bro.

What did coffee do though? Others I can understand. But coffee??
Sugar is world number 1 drug
Coffee might be just behind it

Do your research w/Brain ON

OP you have 2 options.
Forget what you used to know, or replace it.
How? Just keep it simple. Reflect on things you already know.

Use proven methods, become David Goggins 2.0 record yourself with a stick and spit your camera while motivating the world.

make a schedule for your days to keep you busy. the more your mind is off those things , easier it'll be.

Moderation is possible. Dont make excuses if you are weak. Of course it is boring, if you are used to chasing dopamine all the time. I suggest you either quit everything all together, find religion and become a hermit, or use everything in moderation... It usually starts with alcohol, so I recommend 2 beers at max on a night out. Try drinking water.

Boredom’s normal since you’re cutting out quick dopamine hits. Try channeling your energy into intense hobbies like fitness, martial arts, or a side hustle. Fulfillment comes from progress, keep experimenting to find what excites you!

Google it. This is an Internet marketing forum, not a drug marketplace. Sure, you probably might find some drug abusers like everywhere else, but I don’t think anybody endorses using drugs here.

Just to clarify, it is against the term 3.1 to discuss about illegal pharma stuffs on bhw:
