Living sober is boring

From a recovering addict to another, I'd say sudden quit will definitely never suffix... Gradually reducing the amounts is what will give you the chance... Also heard they say new habits bla bla helps... Never worked for me... I just try to keep it moderate... Or just do one thing at a time... Or maximum three things (weed, alcohol, Tmd)

Those ascetic types do not last long. And never have anything to show for their abstention.
The literature of addiction all contain the same mantra. Replace the behavior with a more positive one. Such as meditation, journaling, gratitude, qigong, exercise, all that fruity stuff. Others go beast mode into their work. I remember back around 2013 I had a span of passion where I was doing 18-hour days working on my bhw inspired business.
Most winners are those "all-in" types like you. You can still be a winner & entertain those things which society deemed negative. Why give them up anyway? Just to prove it to yourself you can? Maybe take a short break, say 90d. If you can do that you may not have an urge to repeat those behaviors.
I know youre not asking how to live your life but just cut out the weed, porn, and gaming. That's all loser stuff.

I quit drugs, alcohol 9 years ago

Cigarettes 8 years ago

Caffeine 5 years ago

I was never a gambler and I don't intend to try this ever.

Porn, masturbation is harmless as long as it's done in moderation.

Junk food once a while is okay.

Start to practice gratitude, life stops to get boring. Also start to write a journal.

I think that drinking is helpful because it allows you to release psychological stress and that brings physical stress.

If you decide to become a runner, you will have to do something deeply relaxing so you don't burn out.

What deeply relaxing thing you can do? Meditation requires conscious effort, it is not really relaxing, it is fighting against your monkey brain.

I think that drinking alcohol moderately is necessary.

What's exactly the point of having money if you cant have awesome vibes in your life?

Be rich and nervous?

Whats the point of living and working if you dont have at least some fun?
I dont mean to be addicted but some fun here and there is not bad, as JP Morgan once said: Work Hard, Play Harder

That's the problem man, I can't seem to find the line between fun and addiction.

You need new addictions. Not every addiction is bad, like gambling or cocaine.

Some ideas:

• Pussies: for free, of course, don't pay for whores. Improve your social skills and let's chase pussies, it's not a bad addiction.
• Gym: it's very addictive after some weeks, you can improve your health and be a muscle-addicted
• Reading: find some good books and be smarter by reading books that you like, it can also be very addictive

I quit drinking in 2015 and smoking cigarettes around 2017. What I did is basically substituted these two with a lot of work plus a lot of exercise, and it was the best decision in my life, period.

However, it does get boring, and I've come to the conclusion that, despite being somewhat of an introvert, I like people, so I still party a lot. How? I take a lot of caffeine or similar light, unharmful stimulants prior to and whenever I'm in a social setting, plus smoke a cigar here and there. But here's the most important part—I always go out right after a heavy strength training workout because it makes me feel confident and like I'm on top of the world, all while being completely sober.

Hey, I was going through the same some time ago ... I wanted to get rid of them because of the expenses. So I did a promise to myself that I will only drink on occasions like birthdays or marriages. This has helped me a lot till now.
Also, after joining a gym, it became quite easier to leave these things.

Just try to be part of some activity group or just join the gym ... You will yourself feel that you are not thinking about drugs or stimulants when you see improvement in your body.

This is the best addiction ...

True. Living a clean life is fucking boring.

I don't gamble, don't drink, no galfriend. And sometimes, I feel my head spinning, as if i am in a dark hole.

The feeling of emptiness just goes way immediately I step out for some walk.

I have quit all drugs; cigarettes, coffee, alcohol, weed and also quit porn, masturbation, gambling and gaming and started a new diet.

Basically, I'm trying to reinvent myself, but I find living sober to be boring as hell.

Some people say 'moderation is key' but I'm an extreme person - I either do it or I don't do it.

How do I avoid these temptations while still living a fulfilling life? I have no answer to that question so maybe if some of you have the key, let me know!
It is very difficult to own a new habit. You're in the middle of it, I think you need a friend to adapt to a new lifestyle.

Learn more in depth about dopamine and how you brain works, then this moments when you feel like it's boring will turn into small victories.

Choose wisely the action you make for long term gratification, instead of short term ones.

Make new friends who thinks and acts like this.

Your life will change, your vision will change, like you can't even expect.

The book "The Power Of Habits" changed my life in this way 3 years ago.

Ps : it's the first message i post here since years, I felt like this topic is the main problem of 99% of people, but they don't even know it.

Move to a retirement home.

They seem to have some fun.

I feel you @ScribScribScrib

I stopped drinking 6.5 years ago, and for the first 12 months was totally sober. The most boring period of my life. Like you I have always do things to the extreme, and have paid the price. It almost killed me.

When the boredom got too much, I choose to exclusively use cannabis. It's much healthier than alcohol and other substances, boosts creativity (a big one for me) and helps you sleep like a baby.

People with our addictive disposition, have to find a replacement, otherwise we'll go mad. (Which is also unhealthy).
