Linode vps slow ?

Deleted member 1393709 : I tried the serveral hours to make the installation work, no success, this thing not work see my screenshots

first screenshot: ssh shows me wordops has https
my domain has not https

second screenshot : try to login wordops = no success shows in browseras unsecure (firewall in google cloud is set allow to 22222)
third screenshot with safari browser: here you see what I get after try to access the panel

also this is real crap. It will not work maybe it's not work on ubuntiu 22.04 jammy. I give this up.
google cloud vm 2cpu+4gb ram cost around $34 with persistent ssd instead of the standard free tier slow HDD.

I go to interserver webhosting with my second domain or to 20i they have fast nginx webhosting, I be sure I get better speed there as with a google cloud vm.

Sorry I give up this weird installation it's not working you can see on the screenshots.
Please use the multi-quote function if possible, as it makes the threads flow much easier. How to multi-quote can be found here Newbie Guide

sorry next time I will use multi quote function.
And sorry again my wordops installation was not working.
Before the installation I had setup a google cloud instance.

Sorry this thing not work maybe it's not work on ubuntu 22 jammy?
But for the future , for my second domain I will use fast webhosting Interserver is good has fast ttfb speed or using nginx webhosting like 20i.

Setup and manage myself a cloud vps i snot my thing.
Azure vm = ssh console login not work with my password and too expensive
Azure way too complicated= I wa snot able to setup a cdn
Google cloud = ok nice try thank, you but ssh login is really easy.
Hetzner the same= ssh login with password not works (not accepted)
Linode easy to setup, easy ssh login, but thanks too slow (with cyperpanel) was slow same as the google cloud vm instance with Hestia panel.

It's not my business karma using a vps or something like that...
A good fast litespeed or nginx webhosting has better configured server than this micro instance crap and they are often cheaper.

What a day....sorry guys I be knocked out today...

I think a free tier google cloud vm is in general slow.
By the way the Hestia panel nginx config file, when I change setting and do save and restart, it not reflects, has no effects.
It looks like it is using always the default settings no matter if you change them, the default settings override them (?).

The better google cloud N2 vm machines cost more than $30 in month , but you can set the how many hours a day the machine will run, like 15 hours instea dof 24 hours, so you can lower the price a little bit (have not tested it with yet). I not think your online business should be online 24 hours...most people will go sleep at midnight, so you can set your time from 9.00 am to midnight for the vm machine.

But google cloud make ssh login with keys easy for you, whenthe instance is created, the keys are automatically deposited, so you click on ssh , the ssh login windows is open and you type in your sudo commandsis that easy.
Why other providers make it so hard (for me) to do this, I must setup myself two keys then copy them an dthen copy it to the server (or something) but I was not able to do this in Hetzner and Azure.

And using my mac terminal with my sudo root it not accepts my password, this is gaga, crazy, silly. I thought modern tech should exist to make the life of end consumers more easy?

Happy weekend !

News today...

setup new google cloud instance using N2 vm machine (2cpu, 4gb ram) , region us-west oregon, this vm has more power performance than the e2 machine.
standard persistent disk
this thing cost around $46 month way too much for my budget, but on that later here...
Using hestia panel again apache2+nginx.

Now setup standard wp theme Berthe Borisot twenty-twenty-one
So fire this up with:

speedvitals.com (I hope this tool is accurate) = exceptional speeds ! usa +europe
pagespeed insight= exceptional speed mobile+desktop
keycdn: no much difference, bad ttfb as before in europe, good and fast in usa, maybe this keycdn tool is not accurate?n

I show you screenshots tomorrow be little bit knocked off now.
But that N2 machine has a catch: these speed measures, I can reach with a good fast webhosting/wordpress hosting too, for half of the price.
With gcloud vm the pagespeed core is at 99, with fast webhosting/ wp hosting maybe at 96 but this is not much difference, but the price is !

It's interesting testing vm instances on google cloud with the $300 credit.
Hostxnow semi dedicated hosting looks interesting. Yes with Litespeed the ttfb is little bit slower as with nginx, but it's not a huge difference.

My last note:
These google cloud vm machines are too expensive, ok when I set a schedule daily, start machine at 9.00am till to night 1.00pm, this will be enough for the most users , also max. 15 hours daily- that will be 15 hours x 29 days= 435 hours in a month.

Google costs: 435 hours x 0,07= $30.45 month, also a little bit cheaper, but it's expensive enough.
uffff ok, now it's weekend take off, I try to relax and watching movies.

Have a happy weekend!

So here are the promised screenshots , they showing me real fast speed, exclude the keycdn tool.
This speed is without any cache plugins or cdn.
Ok, the images on the standard theme are not optimized- I let it so for this test, speed is near same for us and europe here with these tools.
(not huge difference)

screenshots are in this order:

1) speedvitals.com: mobile
2) speedvitals.com: Desktop
3) pagespeed: mobile
4) pagespeed: Desktop
5) gtmetrix
6) keycdntool

Why the keycdn tool showing so slow speed? I do not know, maybe they do this to sell their own services....

I think you can lower google cloud vm costs with scheduling and commited use discount (without prepaid) I must doing research about htis.
Commited use method is relative easy to setup in google cloud, the scheduling not so, it's a technical frickling, setup sechedule, then add it to the vm, thenn create user with permissions....Jesus Christ.... why these wealthy rich tech giants making our life so hard?

Same test same Hestia panel and same wordpress theme with an e2 google cloud vm machine;

this thing is slower than a N2/N2d machine- my speed with my other domain on $5 interserver webhosting is around 40-50% faster than this e2 vm.
So for google cloud the N2/M2d vm machines are the better choice but they cost you around at $50 month.

With commited use I think you can save 20% (I can not test it can not purchase commited use in $300 credit trial) + ussing schedule time let the vm runs at 9.00am till night at 2.00pm (this should be enough for the most users) theoratical you should cut down your vm monthly costs from $50 down to half.

Schedule like this would be 14 hours every day multiple 30 days= 420 hours of billing.
420 x 0.07 = $29.40 and with commited use saving bonus ( 20%) the costs should be going down to $23-25 monthly (my theory) an affordable price.

But $50 is way over my monthly budget for a second domain.
That's it guys my google cloud vm test.

I not try it with azure way to complicated and it's more expensive as gcloud vm, when I check their price calculator, horrendous prices.

Maybe a test with the german provider ionos with their 1€ month (the first 6 months) package (after that 18€ month) the vps xl, this thing has 4cpu core and 8gb ram with 160gb ssd. Can not say if this vps is fast like a N2 google cloud machine ?

By the way....ssh will be not easy as with google cloud ,in ionos you must generate and setup th essh leys yourself (I be not able to do this, sorry) .
Also their guides looks like that, you must setup these ssh keys yourself.

Google cloud N2 (2cpu+4gb ram) vm machine is way faster than a Linode with 2cpu+2gb ram, my experience.

Any tips and recommends for fast and cheaper vm machines with easy setup and easy ssh setup like google cloud?
More fast vps providers who offers trial ?

Happy weekend !

Like I said that is nothing wrong with your website. You are the only who complicate the things.
Unless you use the shitty of apache (apache is good for starting, nothing more) but will struggle against high traffic load and CPU usage / High load of requests.

Is easy to use WordOps, a video tutorial in Youtube might help you. Pretty sure that you aren't using the correct things.
Perhaps also you are using low hardware.. You need 2GB or 4GB if possible to avoid waste of resources.

If you aren't unable to use WordOps then you might not have a vps or dedicated server.
And going with Full Managed Servers.

Even a non-techie guy can follow WordOps guides and installing it sucessfully.
As I said, that websites like GTMetrix, Google PageSpeed are just a "estimative" since if you live in Asia it won't be "A" of quality speed. Is normal because of distance.
Unless you have load balancing and servers to users connect with the server more close to them.

If you don't want to lose time and setup everything, just go with managed vps or managed dedicated servers they install wordops for you or any control panel or Nginx tuning.

Good luck.

Deleted member 1393709:thanks again to your tip. Tomorrow I will search for a good WordOps guide, yes I be with you- ngingx without apache will be a lot better.

but as a tech noob like me, setting up load balancers and all this stuff will be too complicted for me and such a setup will cost more than $50 in google cloud. Hence I be not able to setup these complicated ssh keys and connect them with my vps.

So managed vps I think that will cost more than $30 month, so maybe I try again to install WordOps or will try a semi dedicated hosting with enough cpu and ram power.

No I look The Black Adam movie wow !
Have Happy Weekend !

A new try today installing WordOpswith thes ecommands on ubuntiu 20.04 (ubuntu 22.04 not works I found out)
create google cloud instance and DNS A records to ip server
create A record for hostname: panel.mydomain.com to ip server (for wordops panel)

on google cloud vm set Firewall rule allow for tcp:22222 (WordOps) panel.
Installing all is going fine;

sudo wget -qO wo wops.cc && sudo bash wo
sudo wo stack install
sudo wo site create mydomain.com --wpfc —-php74 -le

But this last command is not working, it means the ip:22222 or my host.mydomain:22222 not works it has no ssl;
sudo wo site create panel.mydomain.com -le

So my WordOps panel login has no ssl what I'm doing wrong? (see screnshot no.1) should I use a cname record for that hostname ?

Second issue: WordOps File Manager not works see screenshot no.2 it not loads up in browser.
Maybe I must use FTP to access to my files? Which credentials I must use in FTP for this?

my WordOps Auth (Admin) ?
then my server ip
then the WordOps panel password
???

Or must I creste first a user for this in WordOps dashboard (can not find this option) and there i sno option to enable panel host name ssk in WordOps dashboard (only with commands).

Last question: will the ssl for hostname and my domain automatic renewal after 90 days? A tricky nut this WordOps thing.

Oh Jesus...
add ubuntu ssh command: sudo ufw allow 22222
no success my hostname domain has no ssl
the same issue with : ip:22222
then sudo reboot...

My last try was add this command to force ssl on hostname:

wo site update myserver.themarkmarkus.com -le --force
then sudo reboot

absolute no success with all that- my panel has no ssl.

I give up today with this.

domain ssl is working, but not for the hostname

I think yes. But I haven't tried all kinds of VPS from Linode.

maybe I should give opencloud a try...it has nginx too (without apache) , yes website standard theme with the low tier E2 instance is amazing fast, I be very impressed.
But my hostname has no ssl and I have no access to WordOps File Manager...
Without hostname ssl you know all browsers blocking you, you can not access, except Safari (on mac catalina)

Using only nginx improves low tier vps/vm's a lot. Using it in combination with apache than it's more like a little bottleneck.
Hmmm, would it make sense using google cloud instance with their sql too? So when databas eis on separate vm, with same region, it must be much faster than using it on same vm, I not know what a sql will cost every month.

WordOps as exampe on the dashboard I can see from my instance with 2cpu and 4gb ram, 1,5Gb is free, 1gb is cached and 1gb is usend with WordOps. And having only 1,5 free of gb on my vm instance is not a lot of space. Blogging 3x times a week ....writing 2 guides a week, then this space will be full up within one year.....(I hope not)

Having good night rest guys !

You receive a link to wordpress with root and password...
Read the things carefully.

That is where you go. I never said that commands... you used --php74 for any reason?

it's so silly all this ssh key crap.
Try it today with Hetzner, first set the A records to the Hetzner ip and for panel (hostname)

a) generate ssh keys with mac Temrius tool without password (field is blank) RSA 2048
b) insert this public key in Hetzner dashboard and set it to default
c) Then create new Host in Termius tool , add the server ip , use keys (no password)

After that double click on my label in Termius then a error message comes up with; "Fingerprint has changed."..click to add new
and prompt this tool asks for password which I not have. Jesus Christ...

Then try it on the Hetzner console, it opens up with my username I try to command sudo apt-get update and prompt it asks for a password I not have.
see the screenshot

This ist he sickest crap I have ever seen. Tools who not work, ssh keys who not work, what the hell is happen?
So I use google cloud again to install cloudpanel, google cloud make ssh login easy for me I not must do anything or creating ssh keys with tools who not work, no; the ssh console opens automatic with my username , so I must do set my commands here and all works fine.

The bis sickest crap with installing panels is hostname ssl.
Most panels you can not set hostname ssl on command line.
After the ssh commands installation, you can acess without ssl but all browers are blocking me, I can try it with google incognito mode or with Safari.
Safari is the only browser where I can login on not secure panels, then after login I can create hostname ssl in panel.

Sick these browsers today, they know that ssh command installed panels not have hostname ssl, but they blocking you,
Tech criminals ? Yes I can call them so.....

So I try it again with google cloud , Hetzner is cheaper but not let me login with my Termius ssh client keys.

How do you guys fix these ssh keys ask for password issue ?
