Linode vps slow ?

Hi blackhat people today !

I now make a test with a Linode vps 1cpu+2gb ram, installed cyberpanel, Datacenter usa (I live in germany)
But not have Litespeed cche plugin enabled.

Wordpress standard theme.
But it's confusing I have tweaked a lot to get fast server response time and remove cululative layout shift.
setting htaccess gzip rules and cache rules = no affect on pageinsight score

Then disabled google fonts with autoptimize plugin= no affect
Compressed header image and convert into webp

I have good pageinsightscore but it shows
cache stating content: my cache rules (htaccess) have no affect and google fonts are big showing on

And the result you see I have slow server response on the domain-i wonder what this thing is.

keycdn performance tool slow worldwide ttfb (only usa is good with 220-320ms) rest is slow between 700ms-1,2 seconds

I don't know what else to do now -I have no idea. Millions of people using vps instead of getting fast website speed and fast server response. What is here wrong with my slow server response on my domain ?

Wrong DNS settings in Linode or on Porkbun registrar? Porkbun has very slow DNS ?

have A record point to server ip
have cname: www to mydomain.com (I use domain without www)
Same settings in Linode dashboard and the Linode nameservers are setup on registrar Porkbun

I don't know what else to do now I have no idea.
You? Slow server response on domain?

Should I choose a better vps provider? Or more Linode ram like 2cpu+2gb ram vps?
Or better setup google cloud vps with cdn ?

Why my htaccess cache rules have no affect ? And disable google fonts in autoptimize plugin ahs no affect too.

Any tips? I mean a vps should have server response of 200ms worldwide or less.

Note: The cyberpanel database is a mess is bloated up 3x times with cyberpanel tables, innodb tables, and my database wordpress tables- what a mess, all in one. Maybe this alone will cause slow server response/ ttfb speed?

Last idea: I should try Linode 2cpu+2gb ram with aapanel +nginx Lemp stack.
Their database looks clean only the wp database (saw google images) but I not know which numbers to setting in nginx file-maybe let it so as it is after installation?

Do you have any idea what this is?

Hi today !

Now I found the culprit.
my registrar is Porkbun and I setup a few days back the Linode nameservers.
But Porkbun DNS zone not works with third party nameservers so I must use Porkbun's nameservers.

When you make dns check with NS half propagation is Porkbun nameservers the other half is Linode nameservers- with this Linode will not work properly.

This was the culprit not using Porkbun nameservers, all domain setups are not work properly on the Linode, ssl, latency and all that. Porkbun DNS zone not works when you use third party nameservers.

So now I use back again Porkbun nameservers and setup new DNS zone on my Linode hope it will work...

I twill look like this hope that it will work:

Porkbun:
A record Linode ip
cname record www to my exampledomain.com

Linode new DNS zone:
add the A record ivp4 to Linode ip
add A record ivp6 to Linode ip

add cname record from Porkbun www. to my example.com domain
add SOA on Linode with my domain email address (not gmail )
add my third party email hosting record

then it should work again I hope so.
When again my ssl on my domain will not work with the Linode then better reinstall other distro on my vps with different panel like fastpanel or setup automatic renew free ssl with ssh command certbot.

Maybe there are some glitches in the cyberpanel when issue ssl ?

Like wth so many other services, Linode forces me to use their nameservers what is this a crap.
But my Porbun registrar will not work and all my records not work when I change the Porkbun nameserver to Linode.

I do not know how I use Porkbun nameservers with my Linode,I can nor replace or remove the Linode nameservers in their DNS zone.

Have no idea how make my domain work with Linode without using their nameservers.

Add cloidflare and only use it for the name servers.

What do you think on seo side will happen when a cdn mask your ip ? AndI not want using cloudflare nameservers.

Pagespeed, GTMetrix are only estimation, doesn't mean that is real or fake. You don't will have 100%.
Only if you have a simple contact html page!

Nginx and LiteSpeed (or openlitespeed version) + cache (redis / varnish / squid cache ) + cloudflare outside server configuration will optimize that.
Optimizating and compressing images is the most easy to do.

I'm not being rude to you, but you must understand because is a little slower opening to you doesn't mean is slower for others.
You need to check that things:

1. Where you live? You are closer to server or still far away? If you are far, then is quite normal.
2. Which configurations you have? CDN? For Europe? What you want to target? Yourself or your traffic visitors? The CDN will optimize that.
3. Images are compressed? No? You can use nginx or gzip compression, if you don't want just google "image compression free online" you will have some like TinyPNG (They have tinify their own cdn also with 14 trial)
4. CDN will make everything good, if you are using a bad coding theme, try change to other theme and disable plugins 1 by 1 and do the tests and performance.
5. In Cloudflare you need to enable to compress CSS, HTML, JS there are a option for that there if you use.

CDN77, BunnyCDN are great. I like more CDN77 but that is their pricing. Even BunnyCDN is doing it great.
I can't believe is not going down.

ISPManager have OpenLiteSpeed, DirectAdmin also and Cyberpanel, you need to check also:

Hardware (you install control panel let's say directadmin, how many ram is using before installing Nginx or Litespeed? How many RAM and CPU usage you have BEFORE installing your website and putting him online?)

Final question: Before installing your website which is the CPU usage or RAM Usage? What is the CPU and RAM usage AFTER the installation of all?
You are using Windows Server? If yes that can be the cause. Windows Server is bad for websites you need powerful server.

If your website + control panel uses 3,5GB RAM and you have 4GB RAM doesn't work good at all because high increase of traffiic you will struggle it.

maybe I need more ram 4gb instead of 2gb, usage ram is with cyberpanel 32% on a 2gb ram Linode.

And please not recommend that cloudflare crap, millions of people lost their seo rankings with that cloudflare ip (same ip who millions of people in the world uses) who is hiding your origin ip, you not rank with your origin ip.

Now I have found out the culprit, it was the Linode nameservers on registrar Porkbun.
With that changing nameservers on Porkbun to Linode NS, the whole Porkbun records and DNS zone stops working and with that mess, the domain not works properly, ssl not works and many other errors.

Also set back again to the Porkbun nameservers, having A record point to Linode ip and cname www point to my example.com domain.

But in the Linode DNS zone their nameservers you can not remove ,they show up too on dnscheck, that means dnscheck shows half up my porkbun ns and the other half it shows the Linode ns, it's not setup properly.

So the domain with all; ssl, latency and all that will not work properly.

I think I must setup glue records but not know how do that, wait of an answer ticket from Porkbun, and Linode but most times Linode give not support on such topics. They will not help you make your Linode work.

An somebody tell me how I set glue records with the Porkbun nameservers pointing to the Linode ip/ nameservers?

Contact my Interserver $5 webhosting live chat support, destroy my Linode and use my domain with Interserver they add the domain and setup free ssl properly and I have fast ttfb speed again, with worldwide ttfb speed at around 140-250ms this speed was not possible with the Linode, there is no more to say,

So I use my domain with Interserver webhosting.

I destroy my Linode instance yesterday and use my good domain on Interserver $5 webhosting add the domain and the live chat support issues let's Encrypt cert within 5 minutes like a breeze.

Have hestia standard theme and good ttfb speed on it maybe tweak it a little bit with LS cache plugin, all things and ssl works.
I have found that the ssl issue on cyberpanel is not from Let's Encrypt it's self signed and many people have problems getting their cyberpanel ssl work on their sites, browsers not accept such self signed ssl certs.

The other side a big con is the domain registrar not allows you to change nameservers.

My test resume with vps: Linode with cyberpanel was relative easy to setup but there are some catches, like make ssl work (their self signerd ssl not work on many people sites). You need some good skills to work with ssh terminal setup certbot let's Encrypt ssl as example and much more, it is not easy for a tech noob or beginner, hence I thougt we are living in 2022 many things are more modern and modified , easier to use as before- no not all ,especial when you setup a server/ vps.

Many tweaks here; registrar not allows changing nameserver, the panel use own self signed ssl instead of Let's Encrypt (which is crap) it is not an easy step to setup a server/ vps. Not forget nginx makes it more complicated, setup the right file directory on ssh commands, nginx files configurations .........

I speak for myself and I go better with a good webhosting route instead of setup an vps.

defer javasript,
code: remove google fonts
add dns prefetch in header
LSC plugin settings


so with this prerequisite, when the two domains showing me nearly same speed measures with;

pagespeedinsights
gtmetrix
keycdn performance tool

both domains giving me near same results (not much difference) so then as a tech noob;

I ask myself "is that normal"?
"should the Linode vps not give me faster speeds measures? (make sense...)
Maybe, many good shared webhostings are now fast as a vps today...

But this example scenario shows me that a $20 Linode give me same results as the $5 Interserver webhosting, so why spend 4x times the money on Linode?

make all these things: create ssl, database, email settings ....PHP settings on command lines? ufffff...
Ilike the concept of slickstack but it's the same =no control panel.....

Why should their vps be better and more faster than my Linode ? (I will understand it)

My desk is vibrating outside the street is being re-tarred-

Now on the weekend I make a new last vps test tweak.
First watch the yt tutorial from ideaspot how to setup google cloud, with this it was straightforward for me to setup vm instance.

Setup an e2 instance 1 cpu and 2gb ram, go to my registrar point with A record the domain to the gc vm, A record dns prolongation within minutes !
Choose the free tier setup with standard network and standard disk, on the right side the monthly price is showing up it is at $16/month.
And the google vm console ssh is easy to use, you not must battle with complicated ssh keys, after the vm is enabled these keys are automatic generated and will be insert in your vm instance.

Use the ssh console is really easy, it pops up with your root command include you not must insert key, key passphrase or such complicated things who often not work (I be later on this here), so you can start straight of insert your commands, is that easy.

Then install the Hestia panel it takes around 15 minutes, it's a lightweight panel.
After that, first set up Firewall rule for the panel in gc vm. Then use the safari browser to login to panel (the other browser blocks the site who not have ssl at this moment), you only can use Safari , it's the only one browser I can use which has a button "go to the unsecure site" (something).
Voila I be logged in and create my user, add my domain with lets encrypt ssl not a self signed, who is not be accepted by browsers.
And create lets encrypt ssl for the panel.

Wait 5 minutes and my domain and panel domain loads as secure, ssl works within 5 minutes, a webhosting provider needs hours for this till to 24 hours (why?).
Setup standard theme wordpress.

So best part is with the Hestia panel, it's preconfigured with maria db, nginx+apache, PHP 8 and more of that useful stuff, this setup works well together.
First checked the speed, ah ok not so great, waiting 1-2 hours.......(is the same with setup cdn you must wait a few hours before this works on your site).

And then wow! Really fast worldwide ttfb speed usa (datacenter) 50-80ms, the rest 200ms, australia little bit slower at 400ms.
Great -you not need cdn or cache plugins with this panel nginx setup.

Faster than any of my Linodes I had, so this shows me as tech noob, that the combination of vps and panel has an impact of the page speed, all my Linodes was way slower than this micro instance with cyberpanel installed.

So the later note on ssh keys tied with Hetzner vps and Oracle:

For me personally what a complicated crap get me headaches the whole day, who invented this shit?
I generate openssh keys with free tool and a passphrase, set this in the vps settings, then load the vps console or my mac terminal, no success.

When I type in as root it asks for the passphrase, then I type in the passphrase then always I get failed error message, so I can not use ssh console with this crap of ssh keys. Asked Hetzner support- got no answer from them, same with Oracle, so I closed my account on them.

Google cloud and Linode make this easy for me why it must be so complicated?

Resume:
My main site is in $5 Interserver webhosting +quic cloud cdn has blazing fast ttfb speed of 50-80ms (!) must used www domain.
The second domain is really fast on google cloud vm, without any cdn or cache plugins with apache+nginx (Hestia panel) , loads really fast on ttfb speed tool (keycdn performance) is good on 50-200ms.

Linode; no matter if I setup Debian, Cent OS, Ubuntu with cyberpanel= vps speed was slow like an average shared webhosting= 500-800ms.
So I be very satisfied with the relative easy google cloud setup+ Hestia panel with nginx, and the $5 Interserver webhosting.

My first thoughts today in the morning was to try at last azure vm instance, but I let it so, azure is way to complicated to setup for tech noobs and I think the same vm instance will be more pricey than $16/ month, as example; I was not able to setup a cdn on azure.

Setup resume:
Linode makes it easy and easy for ssh login but got me slow average speed (without using nginx) with using cyperpanel.
Hetzner vps easy to setup but can not use the console, ssh keys not worked for me, I do not know why.
Oracle the same crap way too complicated (like azure) to setup and ssh console with keys not worked for me.

Last test: google cloud vm setup relative easy with the yt tutorial from ideaspot, standard free tier 1cpu+2gb ram with Hestia panel, who has good preconfigured apache+ngingx settings. Site loads really fast, $16 month is an affordable price.

Ok, with a cloud vm you must doing all things yourself and the wordpress backups, with Interserver webhosting they are doing the backups.
But this is a not so hard part to do it yourself.

So I can not explain why the google cloud vm with Hestia panel has so fast speed (maybe it's the nginx?) and the Linode with cyperpanel not.
Other panels I not have tried with Linode, so I tried Linode vps only with cyperpanel. I think the Linode will be as fast as th egoogle cloud vm when you use it with Hestia panel with apache+nginx, but I not have tried it.

A vps with cyperpanel will be fast only with LSC plugin and quic cloud cdn on, without that not.
Why? I can not explain you that as a tech noob.

I think when you start with your website be not afraid to setup an google cloud vm it's not so hard with that yt tutorial, it's like set and forget it and the google console is easy to use. I hope google has good support when you need it.

Increase your server spec to say 6 GB Ram at least. I would ditch Windows server for web hosting just in case you are using it. It's shitty..

I mean you can use it but Windows IIS is not compatible with most WP plugin functionalities, and not well optimized for speed and eats up storage pretty quickly, wastes time fixing update-related bugs. It's another struggle.

What a bad day.... now I not be happy with Interserver and quic cloud cdn.

Getting 520 error form quic cloud cdn, maybe I can fix this with enable imunify360, but what I have read, it will be not automatically adds new changed dynamic ip's from quic cloud cdn, so I must set up new ip to the whitelist, every time when I get this error manually. I be tired of such shit.

This is shit of crap. Now I removed my domain and all settings form quic cloud cdn and removed my cname record in my registrar.
Now I can not login to the Directadmin dashboard from my intersever webhost client area....

Can today in modern world webhosting and cdn not work stable? boooaaaahhhh.......

You can use cloudflare DNS without hiding your real VPS IP
You're not forced to hide your IP if you don't want
