Hi,

I have been using them (ongoing 2nd month).

I already had a few mates told me some super negative stuff about them.

One had their website hacked 30minutes after creation, despite using them for fine for awhile
Another had CPU locked at 100% after linode creation
Another had their entire Linode Account deleted after using it for a month. (Can register with the same emails & username etc)

Anyone else had any similar negative experiences with them?

I do not work for them, I want to understand if they potentially have issues or my mates are retarded
Kind of inclined to believe the latter but you never know

I recall signing up once and hosting a few bots on there and didn't have any problem.

But I had nothing of value stored on there so maybe that's important to note.

Regardless, why do you choose to stay with them instead of just switching to somewhere more reputable? U can get linux server hosting elsewhere

Not choosing to stay with them, they only host a small portion of my sites and I am considering moving them off to DO for the time being.
Question was for me to decide whether I should I do it now or later
In addition, how "serious" their problem actually is, or are my mates just unlucky as hell.

One of my mates who "lost" their account, just got it back after calling their customer service line

This sounds like there was some mismanagement or glitch in play here. Not really a good sign.

Nothing in the recent years

Yeah, his account was "flagged for fraud", which is fine, sure whatever
But, no courtesy email, no termination of service notice?
That's just bad faith, especially when it was flagged incorrectly.

hmm...
Regarding the hack: sometimes the wholes in the web application can cause the hack and that is not from the your provider's side.
I do not know what exactly happened in your situation, but that would be better to find out that reason. Why ? Because that might happen with your next provider.

I used them before they were good most of my bigger SEO friends use them and always speak highly of them overall not really hard anything bad about them so far.

That's true, It was just a blank wp site that didn't have any wp plugins yet.
That is also true he haven't added security to the server yet either. (Didn't localize root access etc)
It was just a pw enter to access root also

My thoughts were either
1. server admin got bruteforced
2. wp got bruteforced

I was leaning more towards 1. simply due to being a new domain he purchased a few hours prior (this is a fresh domain and not a expired one)
So there was no incoming traffic at all.
But I dont have access to the logs so that was just a quick judgement on the matter, + mate kind of raged and deleted the server and went to another hosting right after
