There is so much hype over the idea of linkwheels lately that everyone and anyone can be seen as an authority regarding their value in the true sense of SEO. I have been using Web 2.0 properties to promote websites for a number of years now. I am sure it is the same with most BBW members here also.

I am running a series of linkwheels starting Monday of next week. We are going in on different proxies for each Web 2.0 property. Using different profiles and so on. We will be making comments in each others blogs, squidoo lenses to help build them up. I have a team of SEO people working for me the Philippines to help me with this experiment.

It is one thing to use automated software and another to create a decent "spoke" in the wheel with meaningful information. I want my stuff to stick and have longevity not just for 24 hours etc.

We will of course be pinging the urls and RSS feeds and bookmarking.

We will also be submitting lots of pics and vids to compliment our Web 2.0 properties.

We will be doing this over a period of 7 days. Each day we will make comments on other blogs, run trackbacks and develop some one way links from directories, blogs etc.

We are only doing this as an experiment.

Once this experiment is done we will run 4 (6 spoked) wheels driving traffic to the hubs. The hubs will all be articles. And the articles (hubs) will all point to either a deep link in our new website or to a pitch page. I want to actually have the LINKWHEEL JUICE going to a website where we can install Google Analytics. It would be nice to track the success or failure of our linkwheels.

If any of you have any questions or suggestions don't hesitate to post here.

I think the use of proxies will help insure that Google will not go silly on us. It slows down our internet connection here in the Philippines but I think it is worth it in the end. So I think the best way is to go slow (7 days) and do it all through proxies. Add good content and run pics from Flickr and vids from Youtube (other media sources too). Nice is if it is done right there is no reason why you can't add more and more content to these properties on and ongoing basis and ping the heck out of them!

There is no reason why we can't add 20 or 30 more Web 2.0 properties to the schemata. Not in true linkwheel fashion but certainly using the same keywords. My aim is not to drive my website position up with the purpose of getting a PR but to get allot of SERPS and interest in our linkwheel services.

I am currently waiting on my website to be completed. We are also in the process of writing a detailed analysis of our linkwheel schemata and the process you need to make it work in a free PDF file. We will also give the exact Web 2.0 properties we use and say why we chose the ones we used.

    Please feel free to comment!

I really don't know what to say. Typically I use SENuke and don't link things in a linkwheel per say. The links from the different properties DEFINITELY help, especially over time.

Whether or not those wheels make a difference or not, I don't know. I can tell you that I spent a lot of time doing wheels like that 2 years ago, and didn't really see a difference, so now I don't bother.

Prove me wrong though, I would get back into if I was convinced. My two cents.

Well Matt I did it all different in January of this year. i was also successful. But this technique combined with what I did before should be just insane LOL. But time will tell. I am looking for a good place where I can host my linkwheel website that is anonomous. If anyone has an idea where I can find a good one I would appreciate it.

    Hi All:

We were supposed to start today but have been delayed as we are having a pitch page done and two websites developed for this experiment. We are also developing a nice PDF file (book).

This are often slow here in the Philippines. Once we have all of our ducks in a row we will building our linkwheels.

It would be interesting to see the results to this, however, do you not think Linkwheels are working? What's the reason for the task?

There was a thread yesterday that mentioned that sites using Linkwheels for SE ranking could rank less or even disappear due to the latest algorithm from Big G. The thread gave a link to test your site against the new algorithm. Since you are starting with linkwheels, I thought I will give you a heads up so that you are prepared for some linkwheel damage down the road.

Blueprint...if you can utilize a linkwheel in your SEO campaign it could have a huge impact on your SERPS and your PR. Read more on how the power in a linkwheel can push your website way ahead of your competition. You use very high Web 2.0 properties to post your content on. You keep posting on more high PR Web2.0 properties and link them together in a specific way. You also link each Web 2.0 property to your website, pitch page or another Web 2.0 property. It's kind of like playing on a football team and everyone there is 7 feet tall and they weigh in at 400 lbs. Used the right way a linkwheel can drive all kinds of traffic to your website. Use it wrong a some of the Web 2.0 properties can get sandboxed. Big deal. Just create another Web 2.0 property and insert where the one was that got sandboxed!

thanks shadofax for the heads up...I personally cannot see how Google can do anything to anyone building a linkwheel if they take time to do it correctly.

I am going slow with my linkwheels. We did 4 Web 2.0 properties today. We also created a video...masked the music and uploaded it to Youtube. We made pictures for the blogs but did not upload them yet to flicker.

We will have all of the web 2.0 properties done tomorrow including a Squidoo lense. We are using a different proxy to set each Web 2.0 property up.

We will in a post comments in all the blogs from each other using different accounts and emails and use a VPN.

Next week we will unleash SEnuke on the linkwheel. Uploading to all kinds of media hosting sites, pinging both the url and rss feeds. We will add some content and comment on each others Web 2.0 property. Then were gonna let the dogs out! SEnuke!

This is just a test to see if it works for me here in the Philippines.

Everything we have done so far has been manual. I am trying not to leave any footprints for Google to trace! That's why I am using proxies and a VPN.

    Hi All:

We had a few setbacks today regarding our blogs. Problem setting them up and using our keyword phrase in the URL. For example, http://grand-homes.livejournal.com was one Web 2.0 property that was used. I noticed this and a few others so I had my go back in and try and complete blogs that had the keyword in the url. The keyword phrase is "house for sale in philippines." So I would try for http://homes-for-sale-in-philippines.livejournal.com I have a friend who wants to sell his property. I am thinking that if this linkwheel is that powerful it should do well on the SERPS.

I am using SEnuke but it doesn't work for certain RSS feeds and so on. We will ping the RSS feeds and url on Monday. Maybe bookmark everything at time too. I will reveal all of the Web 2.0 properties that I am using.

Again we are going in on different proxies so that every property is unique.

Serpassist...I sure like your diagram for SERPS but am wondering about a few things. For example, what is a "feeder blog?" And why don't you bookmark all of your blogs etc.? 'And why do you have only two instances of comments which I assume send links to your "feeder blog?" Which leads me to the next question why isn't there comments on Squidoo just as one example. If done right with different IPs and emails you can run around and post on your properties.

I appreciate all of your input.

I just want to add this blurb that I posted in the Warrior Forum. I want to get feedback on all of this:

"First let me introduce myself. My name is Frank and I have been doing SEO for many years. As many of you are aware nobody will learn or know everything about SEO. It is just too comprehensive. I have had a number of SEO teams working for me in the Philippines. Right now we are experimenting on some very powerful linkwheels. Here are a few things I have learned about linkwheels recently. Feel free to correct me and add to this thread.

    Ok Let's Cut the Crap!

Linkwheels can be good or they can be bad!

If they are done wrong they may even harm your website! I know you didn't want to hear that but it is the truth (IMHO). Let me briefly explain how a Linkwheel can be built correctly.

First step is make sure you use a different proxy for each Web 2.0 property you use! After that just go in and us a VPN to add content anytime. The more comments means a stronger property. Why is this important using a proxy and vpn? You do not want to leave footprints for Google. Each "spoke" or property in the linkwheel is unique if you do this technique Google will not bother you.

The problem with the above method is that it takes time. Nobody offering services for linkwheels wants to take the time to do it right.

The second thing to keep in mind is that these properties will stay with you for a long time. You can comment on your own properties using different emails. That's something that is time consuming also. After each property is developed you need to go into that property say Squidoo.com with a different email and create another lense for example. Now you can comment on your other Squidoo lense which has a different email and proxy. If you have 10 unique Squidoo lenses you can comment 9 times on each lense.

This is very labor intensive not to mention that you create each property for one keyword or 1 keyword phrase only.

A linkwheel with 6 properties including the Hub would all be targeting the one keyword!

Why is this important? Because when you get the link from these properties the anchor text has that keyword in it! If I am wrong please correct me.

There are other factors that need to be considered to make a reputable Linkwheel that I will touch on later. The key factor here are anonymity!"
