Hey BHW,
I was recently thinking about starting some social media profiles for a blog and I came up with a few linking scenarios so I just had to ask. Do you point your social media links to your home page or a content page?
The scenarios I have though about are as follows:
A) Point every link to blog.tld/home which gives the home page an SEO boost which I can then disperse with proper interpage linking.
B) Point each link to a different article which will disperse the SEO benefit but appear less spam like.
C) Point each link to blog.tld/twitter, blog.tld/instagram, etc. which will allow me to track where users are coming from, and I can either redirect them to my home page, or even build up a page which I can update over time with links to my trending articles and top earning products. This, ideally, should allow me to send an SEO boost to any page I choose in the long run.
Personally, choice C makes the most sense to me but I would not want this page to rank which I think can only be done by blocking it in robots.txt and by doing that, will I not lose any SEO benefit I stand to gain?
