That's good to know. I'm in the middle of scraping, but once I'm finished I plan to do something similar with using the SAPE links for the particular keyword I want to rank for.

In competitive niche's velocity is almost always apparent.

~100 sape links for low-mid competition, exact match anchors
~200-300 wikis, articles, blog comments, profiles, doc sites, social signals, etc. NO exact match.

I plan to point the links to an aged domain I bought which will be 301'd to my money site, unless tony_d will suggest otherwise.
tony_d, are your money sites web 2.0s? Also, when you said the other type of links (those that are not sape), are not exact match, do they still contain the anchor text? For example, if you were trying to rank for "dog training," "dog training" is for the SAPE links and then "the best dog training course" for the other type of links?

No, my money sites are almost all one-page lead capture forms... with a little bit of text top and a chunk at the bottom, below the fold.
The 'other' type of links are totally mixed up and random - if I was trying to rank for dog training, I'd use anchors like "best seat on Boeing 737" and "Car cleaning tips for New Mexico residents"... you get the idea
Only relevant anchors are the sape ones, all of which are 100% exact match.ill-repute

Thanks again for the response, tony_d. I didn't realize you only use a couple of hundred of non-Sape links. I guess as long as I have enough anchor text dilution I should be fine. I'll be using the same Sape service that you're. I used them before but I did it wrong, and now I'm ready to try again.
Do you put your anchor text surrounded by text? I know there's an option to do that.

Indeed - I just don't think there's a need for such massive quantity of links anymore...
I don't surround the text with words - just exact match by itself.

Look at it from a different perspective.. That would mean that you take a shitty site that is spammed to death and penalized, 301 it to a competitor and they're gone..
No way is that going to happen, or at least it won't last long.
Worst-case scenario 301s will do NOTHING but I doubt they'll hurt anyone.

Question: If your building all your links through a 301 and the money site gets penalized. Could the money site recover when you remove the 301? Cause technically there are no links that have been built to it directly.
Dumber question: If using domain address as the anchor, you would use the money site domain as the anchor text right?

Re the first: I don't know. Maybe? I take the view that it's easier to build a new money site and rank it (almost instantly) than mess around with a penalized site...
Re the second: there is no anchor text in a 301 - it's just a straight redirect

There's a lot of people here on BHW arbitrarily making up limits, ie once, or twice, or whatever - but so far nobody has done a proper experiment or case study to my knowledge...

that's what I do, use sub domains, and in the mean time try to rank the new domains the "right" way.
