My most memorable one is:

"Luke, I am your father."

When it's actually...

"No. I am your father."

How about, "Hello, Clarice" when it should be, "Good evening, Clarice"

I think a lot of this has something to do with tv shows and films repeating the false lines and we attribute the false dialogue to those movies after not watching them in ages. Kind of like how many people say LAURA Croft when her name is LARA Croft.

So essentially questioning not the actual results of the experiment, but questioning the causality of the results. But this has always been the case with studies that show correlation instead of exact causality. Finding correlations are often the first steps to understanding causality of things.

Interpretation is what matters. For a simple example: One looks at the stars and thinks Gods and Angels (people used to literally believe angels were pushing the stars on the sky to move). Another looks at the stars and thinks massive nuclear forces and mass shaping the space continuum.

One can always either a) cherry-pick from the data or b) don't apply the proper methodologies for dealing with data (e.g. when making aggregates, cleaning up outliers etc) and fit everything into outcomes that speak what he wants them to. In Statistics, absurd levels of rigor is of the highest essence.

The project was an extension of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab by Roger D Nelson, whom was also from 1980 to 2002, the research coordinator of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) laboratory at Princeton University.

This says what I said :) An extension (i.e. a spawned thing) by Nelson.

Just like we don't have collective penises and collective anuses, we don't have collective memories.

which is why every generation acts like the ones that came before it, often repeating the same mistakes.
(only the "trills" on star trek are immune to this syndrome)

Considering that we have books in abundance (i.e. we can study the past and step on the work of a bazillion dead people), I opt for the "most people are beyond stupid" explanation :)

most people either don't read, or they read rubbish. when i was in school a common complaint was that reading took too long. the end result is that people who don't read must learn by experience instead of from history.

"the fool learns by his own experience, the wise man learns from history" - Confucius.

"Interview with a Vampire" or "Interview with The Vampire"?

Ok, so I skimmed through a lot of Mandela Effects examples to find one I had 100% certainty....I found it and now my brain hurts.

I think this is so iconic that there are people here who share it.

"
James Bond fans out there ..the movie moonraker ....the villain jaws ...famous scene where he and dolly fall in love

He smiles at her with a mouth full of metal . She smiles back with a mouth full of braces . Classic music playing .famous scene ....well not anymore ...she apparently never had braces ...which made the scene . It doesn't even make sense now ..there is no explanation for this ...no misquote ..no mistranslation ..no visual memory...the scene was made for that specific point ...wtf?!"

Have you seen the changes which happened in the bible? This shit is crazy. I even checked bibles I had since a child.

Lion lays down with lamb... now is wolf lays down with lamb
Lords Prayer is changed
Judge not lest ye be judged changed...

And there are more changes to it to.

I have always had King James Version bibles and know these versus by heart since child hood, that I spent years reading when I was younger memorizing word for word. Those exact same books now read something different.

Everything is real. The more you dig into the rabbit hole, the deeper it goes...but whats real for you, does not mean its real for someone else...even if you can see it as bright as day, and as black and white.

Its like the Matrix - people cannot be told what the matrix is. And if you tell them what it is...and they are not ready for it...they wont believe you.

Believe in your gut and follow it. Don't listen to those that say you're wrong without giving you proof. You'll notice if you ask them what their proof is, their 'proof' is just not even real (but what they have 'heard' without researching into it).

So if someone believes that they have superpowers and are able to jump off the worlds tallest buiding and survive without any injuries, they should do it? Instead of paying attention to all the science that debunks what their "gut" is telling them.

It's not because they lack in eyesight though - which brings us back to my point ;)

People are conditioned to amuse themselves all their lives:

TV used to end at 1am but today it's on 24/7.

Cartoons used to be shown only on Saturday, now they're shown every day.

A new movie is released every week.

Store shelves are packed with tabloids and bestsellers.

99% of TV shows are drama or comedy but very little educational material beyond cooking.

The most popular web sites are those that feature time wasting articles, jokes, cat videos, "intellectuals" discussing "important" issues, videos about space aliens, and nudie pix. Neil Postman, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amusing_Ourselves_to_Death

And when they're not amusing themselves they're practicing "crowd thinking" and saying and doing what everyone else does.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall" -> "magic mirror on the wall"

"Play it again, Sam" -> never said in the movie.

"Judy, Judy, Judy" -> never said by Cary Grant.

"Ulcers are caused by stress" -> no, they're caused by bacteria. When this was reported the medical community mocked the idea until it was proven.

Damn, this mandela effect just blew my mind... (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/MandelaEffect/comments/5gzev6/have_you_ever_seen_a_renown_astrophysics_expert/)

Some of you may already know about this video, but for those who don't, here's Neil DeGrasse Tyson struggling with a Mandela Effect I'm a victim of also - The position of our Galaxy:

According to myself, we were always on the outer part of the Galaxy, we were far away from the supermassive blackhole (that's why I memorized our position)...

...

We were NOT in the MIDDLE of the Galaxy.

Now, I was creeped out by this when I first found out (that's why I found this video and also the countless people who ARE Sagitarius in birth sign and remember it because of that.

Carl Sagan:

I would be interested to know how many people who believe in the Mandela effect, also smoke pot.

Id be interested to know how many people remember a country in Europe called "Svalbard"

I didnt hear of this incident, but it is interesting to say the least. Here is another one though that should resonate with anyone from the US that know their US presidents.
