Could have been worse, I seen a person on another forum sell a whole fleet of micro niche sites that were earning pretty good, but knew a g00gle update was coming that could have possibly wiped them all out, ended up selling them to one person for something like $50k+ and then a week or two later when the update came g00gle nuked them all. He reported back on the thread and people were congratulating him for being able to squeeze every last cent out the sites before they were penalized.
Just like eelajt said there's a reason people sell these sites.

Well calling credit card company won't work, since you flippa has lots of evidence that you purchased the site lol. Now if you contact flippa it won't work either since they paid the seller already, so I guess you are out of luck. Next time do research before buy a site, remember people won't sell a profitable site.

Flippa is certainly full of questionable offers, but the seller has no control over things Google does, noone can predict if or when a penlaty will hit. It's at least partly your fault, too, the right due dilligence before buying a project avoids hassles afterwards.

Ok, thanks for some of you that were helpful... Going forward I will build out my own websites like I did in the past. I will have someone I know fix the problem Google sent me with content which was on the thin side. Also, I don't understand how they say content should be unique which it is. Then I will try to have google reinstate it... Lesson learned!

The penalty was there before you bought it and they have been sending traffic during a month to say now it´s not their fault . Sorry for the loss , but I am sick of reading " I just got $x.xxx scammed " threads.
I do have a sacred rule which is never spending more than $250 on anything I buy online. I have never been scammed , but if I ever am because that site/service/social account/whatever-I-bought is a scam, it wouldn´t mean a big damaged because I paid little for it.
Nobody sells a real site that makes $500 month for 3.000 bucks.

this is, strictly speaking, not true. It really depends on the contract. If the seller did not make any promised about a sound backlink structure, etc - then, of course, there is no fraud. So my advise would be, check out what you bought exactly. As for liabilities that depends on the country you are living, if the contract specify anything more strict.
personally speaking, if you spent more than 5k on the website you could pursue this..other than that I am not sure it is worth your time ;-)
