Always wanted to know what my fellow bhwers work with all day. Laptops or desktops?

Whats good for working on long hours, 12 to 14 hours a day?

Shoulder gets fucked if I work on the laptop for that long every day. Got a nice imac too but thats constant sitting in front of a desk all day and that fucks up my knees, no freedom to move around.

Used to have laptop, now on desktop. Prefer desktop. Better performance, temps, screen.

It varies, I have both that I can use same as you, although I'm now drooling over the Dell XPS13 with the sixth gen Interl processors, so might be making a move toward laptop for work and desktop for gaming life.

I can't really do much work on a laptop. I work on my desktop computer - more power, more screens, easier to move around with mouse, better keyboard... I use my macbook only when I really don't wanna sit down or I can't access my computer to work. Other than that, constantly on my desktop computer.

Laptop. Early 2015 Macbook Air. I can switch between "desktops" with a four-finger swipe. I've got five going usually: Evernote, Slack/iTunes, Excel/Word, Chrome/Safari, Photoshop.

If I don't want to work in my cubicle, I take it down to the basement. If the basement gets overcrowded with the lunch crown, I say eff it and go home. I can work from my couch, the balcony, even take calls from the car when I need to.

Laptop 100%.

using a Macbook Air 13" Works like a charm and i can take it anywhere. Sometimes i connect an external monitor to it, but usually its the single screen. This is coming from a guy who used to run a 3 monitor setup on a windows PC

I prefer laptop mostly, only use desktop for designing and tools running.

I prefer a laptop I mainly use it for e-mail and stuff. I can see why people who code or design would like a bigger display :)

Everything depends on your specific needs and preferences, but one thing is for sure - desktops offer a better price-to-performance ratio..

I own a laptop cause i can take it everywhere easily. If you do more heavy stuff though such as gaming better take a desktop for lower cost and temps.

Desktop with two monitors works best for me. I do some design works, this suits me best.

Using a couple of laptops but they do get damn hot , so am keeping an eye out for a good, reliable workhorse desktop to use too.

Desktop for work. If I were a digital nomad though, I'd definitely make do with a laptop, but I consider it a disadvantage.

I use both for work and play, though the ones for work are exclusively built for work only. I spent the money and built the desktops myself from the discounts I get through my clientele, and I bought the laptops already built. I prefer a tablet or phablet if I need visual presentations, engagements or just need to write down quick notes and such during meetings or while on trips. I prefer things that are updated, with features that I use heavily and that actually help me sell my presentations.

What works for me won't work for you because I'm me and you are you. Go with what you feel is the most useful and productive for you to use, not what the discounted price tag says unless you absolutely can't afford to buy a top tier performance machine. I'd wait and save up for something you don't need to upgrade for at least 5 years.

People recommend using laptops but not sure how many of really travel and move around so much to justify using a laptop. I've got an old laptop for work and it's used as a workstation.

You don't need a laptop if you work locally, but it's great if you move around.
