Laptop or Desktop?

I enjoy a laptop for it's mobility, though I have a couple monitors that are at my station when I really bog down.

I walk around to coffee shops a lot so I can get some air every now and then. I also have an older desktop that I sometimes run when I'm crawling large files and leave at my office.

99% of time spent on desktops, only use laptops when I have to spend time away from the desktop.
Every now and then I get the urge to buy a MacBook Pro but then just decide to buy a new desktop.

notebook for me, nothing fancy, a 2 year old Lenovo, i don't really run too resource intensive stuff, so it does the job well
in the last 10 years i used 2 notebooks for work

portability FTW

I Use Laptop,i don't use heavy software's or stuff like that.
So laptop is enough for me.

I have laptop and desktop. I think the both are good in depending on what you want to use. Laptop is more flexible because you can use everywhere. Laptop is using about job. If you want to play computer games I think desktop computer is better about it. Desktop is using if you you want to remote too large system in large network. It is good about it.

I have both laptop and desktop.
Macbook and a custom built desktop, and i prefer desktop over any laptop, the performance alone is much better.
More comfortable to use too, only use laptop if you are constantly moving or traveling, otherwise, desktop wins over

I use a laptop with 2 external monitors. I am happy with the setup. :D

Desktop for sure!
The main advantage is Big Screen and you actually feel like working!

I mostly work on my desktop unless I'm travelling. I tend to have a lot more focus when I'm actually at my desk and in my comfy office chair.

I'd recommend taking regular breaks if you do end up working at your desk all day. I get the worst headaches if I spend too much time staring at a screen.

Laptop + external monitor. Mobility wins for me... I like being able to close the lid on my notebook and go work somewhere else if I want to.

Always wanted to know what my fellow bhwers work with all day. Laptops or desktops?

Whats good for working on long hours, 12 to 14 hours a day?

Shoulder gets fucked if I work on the laptop for that long every day. Got a nice imac too but thats constant sitting in front of a desk all day and that fucks up my knees, no freedom to move around.
To address your complaint of sitting all day, how about working on your computer in stand up position? Do a google search for height adjustable desk to get an idea of what I'm talking about. You can even build one for cheap like this one here.

Have been wanting a Standing Desk for awhile but The Wife wasn't too keen, that doesn't look too bad, might test it out and then use it to persuade her that I need to upgrade.

Do you want one for health reasons?
Sorry, op, didn't mean to derail your thread.

I have a laptop so I can take it to college everyday, plus I am often visiting my family & friends and I wouldnt be able to take a desktop everywhere.

But the most awesome advantage of having a notebook is you can chill in starbucks and browse geektyper.com and all those coffee-sipping hipsters around think you are hacking the CIA

Depends of what you do.
Desktop when you use your computer for playing games, video editing, heavy tasks.
Laptop when all you need computer for is web browsing, coding, watching movies etc.

No reason to buy heavy stuff PC when all you play is retro remakes and all you do is hang around BHW.
