Hi BHW

So I recently realized that a 9-17 ain't for everybody, I went through some YouTube FB ads courses and fell in love with the idea of learning a Universal skill such as internet marketing that can apply to any kind of business.

Anyway, I've never created a campaign or anything, yet through networking I managed to land a Mortgage Brokerage agency that is willing to pay me around 800 Eur per lead that finishes the whole process (takes about 2 months). Did the numbers and I just need to keep a steady 2 leads per month to make this my new income.

So here is what I'm planing on doing;
- Create a WP landing page with a form and a mortgage simulator
- Capture leads to Mailchimp and send follow-up emails for people who've completed the form
- Drive traffic from Facebook and Instagram with a 500eur/month budget

As you can tell... I'm pretty much clueless about what I'm doing, yet I'm not worried since I'm supposed to learn this shit somehow right? And I've heard somewhere that doing is the best way to learn things.

Do any of you hardcore marketers any tips, guides/courses or advice you'd like to share with a newcomer to the Game?

Any help will be very appreciated

Cheers

I never work for commissions...

But practicing is the best way to learn ;)

WTF is a 9-17. I'm out.

It's military time in the US, and normal time for the rest of the world.
I got my watch on military time as well.

OP

I suggest digging through @jul3s threads on Facebook ads, she shared a lot of gems there that could be useful for what you do (e.g. chat sequence, follow up, targeting, etc.)

Yea, I would not normally accept something like that, but they are providing the 500eur budget, I just have to create. So at worst, I "lost" some time learning :)

09:00 - 17:00 - military time for 9 AM to 5 PM.
Thanks for clearing that up

That's really cool! Thanks! I'll go through them today.

1. Find a source of very good quality content.

2. Ideally identify problems your customers have before, during, and after finishing the whole process, and create articles solving the problems for them.

3. Promote content

4. Go back to step 2 and repeat

I get that blog post could be great, I simply don't have the actual knowledge about the business as it is fucking vast. But I can totally see myself creating ads specific to each step in the products lifecycle, good idea.

Well... why did you take on the client if you have no idea what you're doing?

Sounds to me you'll lose the client in a month tops because of bad results, then you'll go chasing a new one and repeat.

I have said this countless times before, and I'll say it again; learn ads before selling them to people. Else your rep will be ruined before you even have time to start scaling...

The firm is paying you 800 per month per lead that finishes the whole process.

Start from that process and see what's the most efficient way to make leads go through the whole process fast.

I've made it clear that I've got no professional experience with IM and it's a 3 month contract to be renewed. Honestly, I've got nothing to lose at the moment, ethically? Yea not the best move on my behalf, I know.

I didn't explain myself clearly, so, the lead simply has to be "qualified" for a loan (they do the screening), at that point the agent will start the lending process and by the time they sign the deed (2 months time) they get paid, which means I get paid.

Cant really speed up the bank

There I thought you were from Europe.

9 - 17 (deduct 12 and get am/pm time?) --> 9 - 5 PM

As the day has 24 hours and you use AM/PM, you can see that each time shows up twice. So to convert PM times to 24 hour time you simply add 12 to it.

Now to the OP...

To me, this does not look like you landed a client, or are they paying you anything other than per lead? It's just you went directly to the advertiser and cut out the affiliate network, so you get a better payout.

The risk is all on you that they convert and you pay your ad cost with hat money. keep in mind this is not as simple as it may sound, given if they pay 800 euro per lead the obstacle of converting is much higher than for "free iphone" etc kind of leads.

Make sure you ask them about any restrictions on what you can/can't do, would be a shame if you got a conversion and they would not pay based on TOS etc..
Also if you are in Europe keep in mind GDPR and make sure about opt in consent when they fill out the form or this will be another issue for you.

Anyway good luck.

Legit advice, the kind of things that I would skip due to my lack of experience.

Well I don't have any expenses other than my time, they pay for the advertisement itself and the lander. TBH, it seemed like a good deal to me at the time, really nothing to lose, but I get what you're saying.

One thing that you made me think of was, I really need to be on top of my game when it comes to the conversion, I need to make sure I won't get tricked or robbed. Need to think of a way to keep track of the leads

Thanks

Lol man, don't listen to any of this:

If you were lucky enough to land a client try your best and take advantage of it.

Most of these guys would accept that gig without even looking at it twice.

The simple fact that you are here looking for help shows how committed you are to make things work, even if you don't have any experience.

Try your best and I'm sure you can make it happen. Good luck.

Thanks bro

Send them over to me ;)
Jokes aside - be grateful. This is a problem for you, but A GOOD PROBLEM. Many people can't even get their first client. The urgency and fear of failure and losing your first client will force and motivate you greatly to learn and deliver them results. So buckle up and hustle, you'll be fine. Use your brain and get that $$$
