Hi all,
I have a MNS that I have been working on for about a month. When it was first indexed it was at position 158. Over the last few weeks I've been slowly building diversified backlinks and the rank has been steadily improving almost every day. I was ranking at position 46 for my Main KW when I bought a fiverr gig for 150 PR2+ social bookmarks. I received the sb's within 12hrs and then I pinged them all. The next day(today) I'm ranking at position 178!

I wasn't sure if it was the sb's that did it so I checked my other KW's and they are all the same rank as yesterday. The only one that took a hit was the KW I targeted the sb's for.

Is this just the usual "google dance", or did I really screw myself here? I've added over 100 BL's in a single day before with no issues. I'm assuming all the sb's haven't even been indexed yet so am I going to get it even worse soon? Can anyone give me any insight on this?

Thanks, Dan

It might be the google dance or the service you bought on fiverr may have not been true and you got low quality backlinks. Best thing to do is just wait it out for awhile and see what happens!

I did check that all the links were in fact created and I checked the PR of the PR5+ links just to be sure. Everything checked out.

Another thing that may be the cause is that I've been running NoHandsSeo on this site for blog comments for that KW. I hear a lot of blog networks got hammered the last few days. I guess that could be it, but it seems like a really big coincidence that it would happen right after the SB blast.

150 social bookmarks for one keyword is miniscule. Don't worry about it you'll be fine

It's natural don't get too worried. 150 social bookmarks is no big deal.

Just as an update, It's been a week and now that site is nowhere to be found in the serps. It slowly dropped and dropped until it is now not showing in the top 1000.

The more I look into it, the more it looks like it was a link velocity issue more than the SB's. It seems like goog indexed a shit ton of my backlinks all around the same time so I ended up having about twice as many backlinks virtually overnight. For a site that new I think it looked too spammy.

As you were already told, 150 bookmarks aint shit. I bookmark new sites with 2,500 live bookmarks without any issues.

You had best blame something or someone else for your drop in ranks. It might have something to do with the other "diversified links" you are building or simply a normal dance for a new site. Don't sweat it and keep working on the site.
