Hello Everyone,

I need your help. I found a keyword with 18100 searches per month, keyword competition is 34 (using Long Tail pro). The first page have amazon, ebay and walmart page (and others). There is also a website having .com.au domain. Do you guys think this is a good keyword? Is it possible to overtake these big authority websites?

No one would even consider your site if the first 3 results were Amazon,eBay and Walmart.

The first three are not amazon, ebay and walmart.
Walmart - 2nd
Amazon - 3rd
Ebay - 8th

The keyword is not buyer specific. It's general like vacuum cleaner, electric shaver etc.

They still wouldn't.
If you were looking to buy something,would you visit a trusted site or something random?

The keyword is not buyer specific. It's general like vacuum cleaner, electric shaver etc.

Then look for buyer specific ones and outrank sites to the top and bank. You need targeted keywords.

My aim is to create an authority website around that keyword. It will include reviews as well. But my question is that, is it even possible to outrank these giants? I have read somewhere its easy to outrank ebay. I also read that it's easy to outrank ecommerce sites, as they rank because there isn't any other relevant sites. Is it true?

All this comes down to your skill at ranking sites. But yes,it is doable with time.
 
Probably not worth your time tbh because it will take a lot of effort to rank that keyword.
 
Hm, well it's probably gonna be hard to rank on that keyword so not sure if it's worth your time.

I don't necessarily agree with the people above me that say that it's useless to rank on keywords were Amazon, WalMart etc. got first page positions because I think it really depends on the products involved.

I have one more question. Almost all the "best product name" keywords have amazon, bestbuy pages. So I should always stay away from such keywords? but doesn't it also means there are no niche sites having these keyword which means less direct competition?

I am confused :confused:

I'm looking KW for Adsense and i used Keyword Planner tool

Do i think is this working with ad sense?Can i rank it? Also on top page 2 amazon links/Two YT Videos links and some 5 websites.

This is where the long tail keywords come into play, it's easier to try to rank for those instead of just targetting the main word.
If you have a huge budget, have quite a bit of time and the commissions are going to be huge..... then yes go for the generic main word.
 
I wouldn't even bother tbh. Go with something that has less competition, especially from big brands.
