Keyword Research the BTB Way

Can someone help please about permalink settings. I did use to have
/%category%/%postname% on a 3 of my sites, but ive just noticed its changed to month and name. No idea how its done this.

I read above that Greg uses just %postname%
So Ive just been looking at the permalink settings guide on wordpress, and they say
%postname% A sanitized version of the title of the post (post slug field on Edit Post/Page panel). So "This Is A Great Post!" becomes this-is-a-great-post in the URI (see Using only %postname%). Starting Permalinks with %postname% is strongly not recommended for performance reasons..

So which permalink should I use

Some people use the category and the post name but I just use the post name when I build the site and WP can feel free to contact me about "performance reasons" and I'll show them my traffic and revenue.

I know a guy that swears by category and post name and I know he does very well also so I could be wrong but post name only looks very clean and I think if it looks clean to me it would look clean to the search engines.

Thanks for your imput, Greg! The Wikipedia staff was really intelligent suggestion in terms of related keyword research. :)

As you mentioned "Those of you that have seen my websites"... does it mean they are not secret and I can see at least one of them? :)

I read in a blueprint recently that it's a smart move the content of the website NOT to be that good in order the website visitor to be distracted in a moment by the Ads and to click them (maybe it's rather Adsense oriented). How do you think?

Last question, can you share article writing service you use or you can PM if you prefer... and how much do you pay for that good content?

I read this whole thread and i went ahead and started my own micro site. I already built the site with CTR theme. You think I should change it? Also I have 1 article in my site right now but planning to target more related keywords.

I want to ask one question which i did not find in this thread. I have all in one seo and I have only inserted 1 keyword. So when i have more articled targeting other keywords should i add those keywords in the plugin.

You?ll end up with a bunch of KWs? usually at least 600 or so and now you have to go line by line and eliminate the duplicates.

I built a site using this keyword research method and I received hardly any traffic at all, 3 days ago all my pages showed up on page 1 and I am now receiving 400 UV a day. I'm converting a lot of sales on amazon but for some reason my CPA banners aren't receiving a single click and their very related!

I am waiting for my other 3 "BTB researched sites" shoot up to page 1 as well! :D

just paste your keywords in the text box replacing whatever is currently in there and then click "remove duplicates", you can also sort by alphabetical order or even by length of keyword if you wanna trim down on keywords of certain length.

I agree with you on the post name, seems to get really good ranking for me too.

I have a question, I too have a few sites with over 1000 pages but I am always trying to make the navigation easy for the user. My question is this, how do you organize your navigation?

Drop down across the top, categories in the sidebar, pages or posts across the top or in the sidebar or something different?

I have tried so many different ways, I have even made each page stand on its own and had no navigation, basically a large authority site but you can only see the page that came up in the search (when I do this, there is a specific call to action on every page).

I would really like to know how someone that has their system down to a science does it. I have read and followed a lot of your threads / posts and I know you speak from the heart and are very passionate about the work you do. Therefore I trust the opinions or systems you have to offer.

So far IM has been pretty great. This post has been great as well in reaffirming the suspicions I had with other KW research. I've looked into so many different markets in my spare time. I've been working that I have invested in and will stay with that one until I've learned enough to move on to other niches.

Perry Marshall coaching also has been a big help in adword campaigns as I'm doing his bobsled run right now.

Actually that is why I am raking in the cash... all that content gets sites ranked along with some backlinking.

I am also having same doubt. If a site has 1000 articles, navigation matters very much right?.. One thing I think of is internal linking and adding related posts. In the video BTB mentioned that all the keywords should be in main page pointing to other pages like wikipedia( if i have understood it correctly)

Would be better if BTB tells how navigation has to be done.:)

Forget navigation... that is not so important as long as it is no more than 2 steps from one page to another for ranking purposes.

Operate my way and you get hundreds/thousands of inner pages ranked on page 1 of google and that is what will get you targeted traffic and if monetized properly cash.

I use a few guys from this site; Ramsweb, Scrapeboss and PPCmaster are all good for content.

Let me clarify this... suppose you have a site about shoes. Let's call it ShoesbyJoe.com. On the site you talk about all kinds of shoes... blue shoes, green shoes, high heeled shoes, shoes for dancing, shoes for walking etc.

Each page has an article relative to one of your KWs:

Shoes for dancing were first invented by the ancient Macedonians for their annual ritual on the first day of
winter. Before there were shoes for dancing, people danced using different kinds of shoes and thus did not
dance as well but once Darko Malinski invented shoes for dancing, the quality of the event was much better.

You continue writing that article so it is 500+ words and then backlink it directly so when someone searches in Google for shoes for dancing, your page that targets shoes for dancing shows up.

They click on the link because it is super targeted and then you have your shot at monetizing them.

BTW, the above deal about shoes for dancing is entirely made up... I just wanted to give an example.
