Keyword Research the BTB Way

basically i'm saying if you're doing IM you've desensitized yourself to what a normal person experiences on the web, use the experiences of normal ppl to remember what the search experience is like, replicate it in your keyword research.

Yeah, that's very true, IMers seem to forget they are talking about human beings. They talk about "traffic", like it's some impersonal force, not a human being looking for answers to something. There was a guy on another thread the other day said, "My bounce rate is too high, how do I keep the bastards on my site?"! I mean, if you are thinking of your visitors as "bastards", then you are also not going to really meet their needs and make the sale/click/referral! How come the best marketers are experts in human psychology? Think about it...

Companies like Yahoo! and Facebook literally refer to people as "inventory".

I once had a Yahoo sales rep cold call me and he kept talking about the "quality inventory" that they have.

yes dump the category. if its a wordpress site there are plugins for it. UNLESS of course the category is part of your keyword, in which case its fine.

either way, if youre not ranking at all this may not be enough to help, you should check your internal link structure.

category is something like "funny-stories"
After reading Google's SEO Starter Guide and other guides, I inserted category for better user experience.... They explained that the user can just delete page.HTML from website/category/page.html and go directly to website/category to find more.... Now i realize how stupid I was, coding a custom php script.... htaccess rules.... Aaaaaaaaa ! :)

After your message I remembered that I had a few pages like website/page.html (on the same website)
I checked rankings for this and 75% are in top 20 SERPs
So now I have no doubt you are right...
Rep adding now, this was really helpful :)

But... now I have 1000 pages already indexed in Google website/category/page.html.
I can modify the script in a few hours but... if I do this I will have duplicate pages in my website.
Any thoughts?

Would like to know about this as well :)

Hi, BTB. Do you outsource the backlinking, or do you do it yourself?

And, I've noticed this site, medicalnewstoday.com is on page 1 of google for countless high searched medical conditions, and they are using adsense (a gold mine site). Many of their articles are supposedly written by phDs. Would you worry about having some of your medical related articles certified by a phD, or is only including a disclaimer about your article info good enough?

And sportsinjuryclinic.net reminds me a lot of a site that you would make, it's ranking for a ton of keywords on 1st page of G, and it had adsense, so I'm going to try to go for something like that in my blueprint

Hi BTB, I've learned so much from this thread. I always wanted to do this but was always blinded by the MNS lol. I finally have a structure to follow. Thank you for that.

I also have some questions:
- What sort of SEO do you recommend? (Link Wheel? .Edu? etc.)
- When placing ads:
-> Google Ads - How many ads do you place? Where's the best place to put it?
-> Affiliate Ads - What's the best ad to use? What's the best placement?

Thank you so much BTB, you've really done big help for me

1. All sorts of SEO.. diversification is the key here so go build some linkwheels, link pyramids, high PR links.. power your backlinks with SB/AMR/XRumer etc..

Greg can answer the other two questions as I'm not very experienced with adsense and affiliates.

Have you considered using 301 redirects? There are Wordpress plugs for it but since you have 1000 pages, you may want to do it in bulk by editing your .htaccess file.

EDIT: After posting, I popped over to Google to see about pointing you to a tutorial. Instead I came across a 301 redirect generator, that if it works as explained, will do the job quickly. It's a free online tool. Have a look...
Code:

Good luck!

Look up the user schwagoo about 301 redirects... he has a killer plugin that will get you ranked for a zillion KWs using that method... it is literally AMAZING!

BK071 gave you a good answer on the backlinking.

For adsense I always use image and text ads as well as 1 link unit above all the content so it appears that if they click the link unit it will take them to another page on my sites.

As to ad placement I like one just below the header, one on the right site above any blog rolls, categories etc (160 X 600) and one in the content that is above the fold.

That being said... I test, test, test and then test some more to see what works best for each site and which method (adsense, cpa, cj etc) works best as well.

hey greg just checked for schwagoo's plugin that you mentioned. can't find it. can you post a link?

Here's a Video showing you a tad about it... I've seen it in action a few weeks ago during a skype chat with him and am very impressed... I should not be because he is a genius.

Hey BTB, what are your thought on the latest G update? Has it affected any of your sites and serps?

I am personally using one of his sites and my serps have not been affected in any way.

btb, I'd like to know a bit more about your SEO/backlinking strategy. Are you more whitehat with backlinks as so to keep your sites more high quality? What are your view on social bookmarks? Article submission? Do you do any social media? What about linkwheels and link pyramids? Do you even do SEO yourself or do you outsource it now?

Subbing myself into this thread, would like to come back here later :)
