Keyword Difficulty And Search Volume

Hello,

I'm coming for advice as little newbie in some ways. I would like to figure out if my keyword research will go fine or I'm wrong and using wrong parameters. Goal is finally bring traffic to site after months. I'm blogging on almost new website 6month old+ and I always try to find low competition keywords in this way:
KD in less than 30 and some search volume with at least 50 monthly searches for US. In this way it won't bring me traffic. For KW research I use semrush.

Question is:
1.) Is search volume very low and I should consider higher volume?
2.) What's your best bet for relationship between KD and Search volume? (should I go for lower KD and high volume above 1K)
3.) Should I consider other parameters like RD etc.

1. Yes and no, really depends on you. Traffic is traffic.
2. I like keywords with ~200++ searches per month and KD of ~30--.
3. It can give you a good idea of how strong your competitor's backlink profile, this one really depends on your niche, some will need backlinks and with some you could rank without any.
 
1.Well, you say your goal is just for traffic, which I think is normal for most beginners to want since you just want to prove to yourself you can even get people to come. I would say it might be too small in the long run, since articles still take months to reach their max rankings (unless you are doing some crazy stuff I don't involve myself with) it is better for growth if you widen your range a little. On that same not, traffic estimates and KD estimates can be wrong, and you can get lucky with a low traffic keyword giving you a ton of traffic.
2. I would say its better to use KD to give you quick ideas of potential keywords, always check the serp yourself to see if it looks too hard. On one of my most traffic pages on a website, I wrote the article because I couldn't see any good results in google for that search even though KD was very high, I was never supposed to rank for it based on KD, but I ranked for it in 2 months........ on a brand new domain, bringing in a lot of traffic. I really didn't even think I would rank because all the other results were big sites but I was the only one actually targeting the search.
3. Depends on niche, many things you can rank without a single backlink in some niches, and it is not unusual to see pages with tons but they don't actually target the keyword, they are just ranking purely off the pages power in a related search. You are targeting low competition in the first place.

Yes, you can get some data from Semrush after click on button but when I try to Ahrefs KD (free tool) some of keywords are not listed and show no data. I read that these KW receive only very little traffic and keyword is not registered (some guys don't recommend strategy go with these KWs).

Well, I probably will see some results after some months. I think that best to try write several articles and get data and results. For example:
1.KD = 0-10 /volume 20 and 200
2.KD = 10-20 /volume 20 and 200
3.KD = 20-30 /volume 20 and 200

Ahrefs free tool is waste, most data is stale, just a front end to get you into a paid plan.
If you don't want to, semrush is your bet.

That's why I'm asking because I want to improve my keyword research what key thing for blogging.

I can agree with you because Semrush and Ahrefs in some cases show different results for the same keyword.
 
I think you also have to consider the serp domain authority and ranks of you keyword competitors.....if my domain s fresh then I would only compete for 10 DA or DR. If I can see a two or more DA 10 in the top 15 in serp then that KW is good for me as a fresh domain I think I can compete

Yep keyword tools can be decieving .The data in the Google keyword tool is old data it doesn't show what keyword are hot right now .Even "zero search" keywords have traffic but you need to test them.

I agree with you, I used to query keywords through ahrefs and google keyword, and the traffic was 0, but in fact, I got 2000 clicks in 7 days in google search console

Absolutely, those traffic stats in semrush (and others) are just random numbers.
I had something similar... 50 or so search in semrush but over 3k impressions in gsc.
 
You must take a lot of the Semrush traffic volume estimates with a grain of salt.

I have handled hundreds of websites throughout my career, and what I can tell you about paid SEO tools like Semrush is that their traffic estimates can vary widely.

For one of the projects I built for myself, Semrush said that the website could generate thousands of visitors.

I built my site using the keyword blend I got from Semrush.

What do you think happened? I didn't even get a fraction of the traffic Semrush said my website would be getting.

But the opposite is also true.

I targeted low-difficulty keywords that Semrush said get little traffic.

The results blew me away.

These websites make a lot of money because few people compete for those target keywords.

Why should they when Semrush tells them they will be wasting their time?

So you must be very strategic with Semrush because it's a crapshoot.

The better approach is to use the autocomplete method of finding keywords in your niche and then feeding those keywords into Semrush.

If Semrush says that they have some traffic or Semrush has some metrics for those keywords, delete them from your list.

Only keep and target keywords that appear on Google autocomplete but do not appear on Semrush.

I've had great success with those keywords because you've virtually no competitors for them.
