Keysearch Keyword Targeting Question

Hey, I have a question about finding keywords with Keysearch.



This image an example representative of many keywords.

Let's say that I want to target the keywords "popular sweatpants" and my DA is 30.

There is no one targeting these keywords, and also none of these sites don't really have anything substantial related to "popular sweatpants" within their site.
Most of the permalinks themselves have "best sweatpants" or some variation in the link.
(I hope it's ok that I shared the top 10 URLs... I'd normally block them out when sharing in Facebook groups as best practice but thought it'd be more helpful to keep them revealed.)

If I wrote a "high quality" blog post, would I be able to potentially rank for these keywords?
Or would I still not be able to because the DA and Auth of these sites already ranking for these keywords are too high?

I've generally avoided these and just find keywords that I do rank for... but because these types of keywords with no targeting but high authority pages ranking for them come up so often, it's time to potentially use them.

I've heard a mix of replies from people I've already talked with-- yes you should be able to rank for them and no you can't. Was curious about what BHW had to say! Thanks.

You have to pay attention to SEARCH INTENT

popular sweatpants is very different from BEST sweatpants

Usually, someone would only type in 'best' type search terms if they are trying to find info that will help them DECIDE

'Popular sweatpants' is more of an INSPIRATION or, at best, INFORMATION keyword - ie., you just want to know what's popular out there

This doesn't mean you want to buy... because you don't have enough info to decide

Focus more on search intent. Also, check the search volume for specific location.

Hey BlackBeans + Yuga

Great tips. I'm a blogger so I have some inspiration type posts and have buyer intent posts as well. Many that target the reader in the purchasing decision stage. The affiliate income is quite inspiring.
Also I advertise products that are available worldwide. I target specific countries if it's more relevant.

That being said, let's pretend that the search results I showed above were for buyer intent keywords and those types of results came up. My question is still the same.

If I wrote a "high quality" blog post, would I be able to potentially rank for these keywords?

They have nothing substantial except their names themselves. Outranking amazon, menshealth and so won't be as easy as just writing a high quality post.

Great. This is what I was looking for.
So if I get it right, even without them targeting, it wouldn't be easy to outrank them because of other factors on their sites.

DA is nothing when comes to your domain. But its a thing lot of DA backling to your site, What i am saying do a quality content and build decent amount of do follow and mix of contextual links. If you own GSA you can do or if you outsource make sure to give them good content. I always do this to my local business + low comp niches
