Just removed Google +1 Buttons from all my Websites

Phew, that was a long process.

Anyway, wondering how others feel about it? I think its yet another failure on Google part, people don't rush to use it. Where I get 2000 tweets and 500 likes I get may be one +1.

In the same thread, how is it going with your Pin It buttons? People respond?

i can't really tell where google+ is headed. to me it seemed like a bad idea from the start. most people can see right through it when google says "share what you love with your friends" they know it really means "give us personal details we can datamine to show you advertising" even the g in the logo looks like its hunching over from behind a corner creepily watching you

I only tested Google + on a handful of sites.

After around nine months, not only did I remove Google +, I also removed all of the other social networking icons. I'm even moving towards hosting my own videos as soon as I get the time to research a viable solution.

But back to the Google +; their goal to secretly grab data has been an overwhelming failure. Google is still refusing to admit their ROI on this behemoth project is a glaring negative. They are heavily in the red $$$ with Google +. However, the realization that it is not going to work has yet to set in.

I've told people from the get go, don't invest a lot of money or time in Google +. My expectation is that Google is going to slowly start backing off of Google +. Meaning, they are going to stop the massive advertising campaign and then they are going to eventually announce the demise of their fantasy social networking FAIL!

google + is worthless. I hope Google remove that system.

I guess i'm alone but I get more +1's then any thing else. As Matt Cutts has said recently, social signlas are starting to play a bigger role in SEO then it used too, and im sure they are refering to their own social network. Which. if you had an agenda to mine data, wouldnt your own products be the method you use? Remove it if you want too but i'm going to keep my +1's right where they are.

I have them, but no one uses them. Been thinking about taking them off but am kind of waiting to see which way the wind blows, too. But it sure hasn't helped me.

All my sites have Google +1.... No I dont get many +1 but they do count, so why get rid of something free. When they can only help you?:dunce:

Unfortunately I don't see Google + totally disappearing.

In fact I think they are in the process of doubling down on failure. All google places listings have been converted into Google + local listings, essentially forcing ALL businesses that want to control their listings into Google +.

I wonder if +1s have greater impact in SEO than the other social sites. After all it has its own section in webmaster tools.

As far as a marketing tool, it is crap. It is set up just to reinforce the rel=author attribute so they have something besides links to weight authority. CTR for articles with the nice little pics beside them is significantly higher than without. Have seen a case study or 2 on this, will see if I can find the link.
