So, what are your main attributes you now look at post penguin update with a new EMD domain?

For me I have been concentrating upon the top 3-5 positions looking at amount of site links and if over 2k I have been leaving it (i.e. not competing with authority sites). Completed a few tests of this and to date doesn't seem to be a accurate test. What key areas are you looking at to judge whether a top spot position is achievable. Allintitle results? backlinks to page?

PR is one of the variables I am currently using. I tend to look for gaps between the top 10 results. If there are a few PR1-2 results this used to mean there was a space for you to slot into but in post Penguin this is not such a good indicator.

By the way, I just noticed I titled this 'Panda' should have said 'Penguin' - I need some rest I think......

Well, post penguin I have started not to look at SERP rankings. Its better to focus on driving traffic from other sources. Many a times, you get into over optimization with the intent of beating the authority sites. This may result into perished website. So I have taken another route for generating traffic.

I'm in the same boat as you mate. Need to find a better way to judge the competition post penguin.
