Hey, fellow BHW members!

I'm a web developer and I've been out of BHW for some years because I was focusing on my professional career. Lately, I came back to BHW and I can see too many things have changed here but happy to try and adapt to new things.

I'm excited to kick off this journey thread where I'll be sharing my adventure in the world of YouTube. For some days, I worked on creating two separate bots, one to generate videos and the other one to generate shorts, with scalability in mind. I have tested from a functionality perspective and I think the bots are stable enough to count on these. Now I've embarked on a mission to upload two to three videos daily along with five to ten short clips until I reach the milestone of 10 million views on YouTube.

This journey isn't just about the numbers; it's about the process, the challenges, the lessons learned. In this thread, I'll be sharing updates on my progress. Expect to see the nitty-gritty details of my content creation process, insights into video analytics, and the highs and lows of building a YouTube channel from the ground up. I'll also share the strategies I'm employing, the hurdles I encounter, and the victories.

Let's start with the first update
YT videos 3
YT shorts 9
YT views 32

watching
good luck
Thank you!

Update 2 - Day 2

Today I got some results but not what I was expecting and I started to get a little bit impatient. The channel started to get views but only on short videos, and now I realize this is going to take some time, probably also because I started with a fresh channel.

I'll continue to execute my plan daily but from now on I'll give my updates weekly.

In the meantime, I'll create another "tool" to generate thumbnails based on some patterns.

Here are today's stats:
YT videos - 5
YT shorts - 14
YT views - 77

Good luck.
I'm trying to do something similar. What sort of topics are your videos about? Are you scraping, using GPT-3, or something else?

Thank you!

Consistency is important, Good luck with your journey.

Glad to hear that. Let us know about your results, please.
Gaming, sort of scraping, I'm using chatgpt but only for video title/description not for video content

Agree 100%. Thanks for your support.

I've posted 75 shorts so far, all automatic (with chatgpt), and have 170 subs. But I've begun to try and edit my script and experiment more to get more views and make my content more engaging. I am in education/facts niche.

Good plan, just a quick question how long has it taken since you've uploaded the first short?

A little less then a year, but I've been extremely inconsistent and on and off with the project. I'm supposed to be releasing one video everyday (which I haven't, as you can see from the 75 shorts), but I've gotten busy with school and other endeavors. I usually almost only get views on the day of the release of the video, so I reckon it'd be more like 75-80 days if I posted the content consistently to get the same amount of subs, maybe even less since youtube algorithm favors consistency over quantity. So like the other guys said make sure to post consistently and on schedule.

Hope your thread gets past page 2
For sure, no worries about that ;)

Update 2 - Day 8

I've completed developing my thumbnail generator tool and have successfully generated thumbnails for all my videos. Interestingly, I began noticing an increase in views on my full-length videos only after implementing this. It's clear that thumbnails play a crucial role in the visibility of YouTube videos.

As for shorts, I experienced a complete lack of traffic throughout the week. However, everything took a positive turn yesterday when I unexpectedly garnered over 25k views within 20 hours, resulting in 18 new subscribers. Another experiment I conducted involved altering hashtags on some of my older YouTube shorts, and, some of them began gaining traction. It's unclear whether this is attributable to the hashtags, YouTube pushing videos due to edits, or simply a coincidence.

Here are today's stats:

YT videos => 17 videos - 87 views
YT shorts => 45 videos - 26.1k views
YT subscribers => 18

Here is my plan for the next week
  • Consistently publish new videos daily as part of my ongoing strategy
  • Evaluate analytics to pinpoint areas for enhancement and optimization
  • Enhance the shorts bot by incorporating captioning capabilities
  • Enhance the video bot to generate video timestamps
  • Provide weekly updates on my progress

Hello do you use any text-to-speech in your videos? Also good luck with your journey

No, and thank you!
Good luck!
Thank you!
How are you automating? Have you done it succesfully in past also?
For now, I'm only automating the content creation part so the entire process is semi-automated.
I already had experience with YT years ago but that was a different method, so I can safely say no, this is the first time I'm trying this method.

Are you sure you have set up the links correctly on your shorts? So that when a person clicks the title of a short it redirects to the full video

How is your conversion rate on your full videos so bad?

Are you talking about the Related Video feature on YT Shorts? If so, I just came across it yesterday. Do you think it's worth giving it a try?
