Journey to make $100/day from IOS & Android apps

1. I don't use cross-platform techs, I use Swift for IOS and Kotlin for android, I tried react-native 2 years ago and it was a disaster, I don't want try a cross-platform tech again, unless something changed about those techs.

2. I try keyword optimization, screenshots optimization, and run ads for few days to kick start some installs, then it's all organic, then try to maintain good review, if a negative review written I will try to respond in a way that implies that it's user's problem, not our app's(not in a rude way).

3. Currently only in-app purchase is my monetization method.

Thank you
What was your problem with react native as I am building an app right now actually it's a saas app and been working on it for 2 years and don't want to waste all my time

It was based on my experience which is very little, Right now I hire other people to do the coding for me. So you might be more experienced in react-native than me, however, the idea of cross-platform seems over-sold.
In the end, see if it's working for you then go for it.

Hello everybody, I am a long-time lurker around here but only now created this account to share my journey because this will help keep me motivated as well as share helpful information along the way.

I am a 25-year-old male, have been working as a backend developer for the last few years, and finally decided to go full-time on making apps because I don't want to keep working for someone else and living paycheck to paycheck.
I love how scalable building apps is and how much of traffic you get organically.

Currently I have 2 active apps on google play, and I am on my way to replicate these 2 apps on app store as well.

I have 1 app that has been suspended by google for stupid reasons, so I am going to focus mainly on IOS because dealing with google is extremely stressful and they don't really treat you like a business man unlike apple, apple is very professional in communication and they huge respect for you, so my main focus will be apple store.

My goal for the year 2023: making passively at least $100/day from both google & apple store, hopefully exclusively App Store.

Currently only made $23 this month of Feb so far, I will be updating my revenue for each month or every other week.

Monetization method: In-app purchases, I don't run ads, I don't even have admob account or anything, I am planning on exclusively making money from IAP as well as paid apps in IOS store.

How do I build apps? I hire mobile devs on Upwork and do the server side work on my own.

Will be updating this thread regularly.
What kind of app and would you be interested in partnership. Kindly make me understand this your app

Great journey, wish you luck my friend, and I hope apple accepts your appeal, I too have this problem most of the times after all the effort I put into my apps, they get rejected for copycat design reasons...

Now I'm waiting for the review, wish me luck guys.
I will update this thread soon, by the end of this month and evaluate my daily profits...
Thank you
Wish you luck solving that!

What do you think about code obfuscators?

Isn't a risk that other developers decompile and copy your app?

If Google Play and Apple Store are available in your country then they will take care of payment processing, If your country is not supported then you can open a U.S. LLC and go from there

Thank you buddy, I appreciate it.

Thank you, but they can't replicate the server side as currently all my apps are dependent on the server side, but yes it's better to try and prevent that.

Just received an e-mail that made my day, apple accepted my appeal and the app is published now. As a matter of fact, the app was a copy of one of my existing apps but it has some twist to it, but I guess the screen recording showing github repo made them a little comfortable, which is always a good idea to come off as professional so you will be taken seriously.

I set it to manual release because I need to change some configurations on server before going live, it's now published and ready for sale baby! let's goooooooooooooo

Oh thnx I got it
I don't think that cross platform is oversold as it is real that it isn't perfect but u have the code available to you if u need twists or native code can have it in both platforms but in mos of my cases I spare a lot of time seeing that also I came from full stack developer in laravel nodejs and react

Mate you need to think about using additional sdk for monetization, for example in theory you could use: proxy sdk + market analysis sdk + ads sdk. To monetize your apps to the max) If interested pm me

Very interesting. I just made account there.
You used this data and you can tell its accurate?
I see very interesting data there and stats too.

Wondering if the data is correct actually.
If it is 80-90% correct then this helps alot to check the competitors.
On average the data is correct but sometimes its totally wrong saying this from personal experience as I have noticed wrong data for my apps and some other apps whose play store data I had but the sensor tower shows something totally different.

Went though the entire thread from the start got to learn a lots of new things especially liked the part where you integrated the review for uses wo paid for in app purchase. All the best for your future hope you reach all your goals.

Glad you found it helpful, Thank you!

What's the latest revenue update and the number of apps you have published on both platform?

@IOS passive how do you handle exceptions?
Do you ask people to send error data to your server?
Does Google send you a report when an unhandled exception is thrown on your app running on an Android device?

We're not that technical my friend, but I see the crashes are very minimal, like sometimes we might have 0 zero crashes reported in 30 days... also if something goes wrong, a user can contact us and we help them manually. You don't have to automate everything, otherwise, you will not ship your product. Don't overthink it, just ship the app and see what happens!

Huge Update:

Last month:

Did we reach the goal of $100/day? YES, a big YES because we even crossed it for a little, I made around $3,400+ in profit, and I'm expecting $3k+ from Google on 15th Sept which I will use to fund my current project.
Last month's daily profit was $110.59/day (this is profit, not revenue, it doesn't include 15% cut of the google/appstore, it doesn't include the cost). The revenue was more than $4k.

This month:
We're currently sitting at $148.92 profit a day. This time Apple store started performing way better than the last month due to positive reviews I believe. Because we have integrated in-app review which only shows up for "Happy" customers and IOS users aren't that angry anyway :)

My Current project:
Hired 2 devs, IOS and Android guys(Super happy with their performance so far). we're working on a very exciting app but the devs are a bit slow as usual, so I'm thinking of hiring more devs for other ideas I have but I'm afraid I can't afford it because the current project will need good capital to have it up and running, also since the app will be targetting broader audience, we will have to do marketing on social media and create some propoganda for it. I already have some ideas for marketing but we will see.
My expectation for the new app is really high, I'm expecting to make +$10k/month from this app alone but let's wait and see the real result, it can also fail miserably but it's highly unlikely.
If the app failed, my plan would be to go the blackHat route like creating multiple dev accounts and spamming them with my already successful apps so that I can double or triple my income.

The new Journey:
Since this mission accomplished, I would like to change the goal of this journey:
The old goal: Journey to make $100/day from IOS & Android apps [Accomplished ✅]
The new goal: reaching $10k/month from mobile apps before 2024

Wish me luck guys!

Hopefully, this motivates you all. See you in the next update.
