Hello everybody, I am a long-time lurker around here but only now created this account to share my journey because this will help keep me motivated as well as share helpful information along the way.

I am a 25-year-old male, have been working as a backend developer for the last few years, and finally decided to go full-time on making apps because I don't want to keep working for someone else and living paycheck to paycheck.
I love how scalable building apps is and how much of traffic you get organically.

Currently I have 2 active apps on google play, and I am on my way to replicate these 2 apps on app store as well.

I have 1 app that has been suspended by google for stupid reasons, so I am going to focus mainly on IOS because dealing with google is extremely stressful and they don't really treat you like a business man unlike apple, apple is very professional in communication and they huge respect for you, so my main focus will be apple store.

My goal for the year 2023: making passively at least $100/day from both google & apple store, hopefully exclusively App Store.

Currently only made $23 this month of Feb so far, I will be updating my revenue for each month or every other week.

Monetization method: In-app purchases, I don't run ads, I don't even have admob account or anything, I am planning on exclusively making money from IAP as well as paid apps in IOS store.

How do I build apps? I hire mobile devs on Upwork and do the server side work on my own.

Will be updating this thread regularly.

What kind of apps you are working on
Good luck

Sounds cool and interesting, keep us updated and good luck!

UPDATE:

Revenue in Feb: ~$33 It's discouraging, everything is moving slowly, my developers are super slow. but we have to push through this hard phase of the journey.

Android: Currently reshaping an existing app, it's very slow. I think I need to hire multiple developers for android alone, since I have an idea waiting and still couldn't implement it because of the current work.

IOS: My ios dev is working on replicating one of my android apps into the AppStore, hopefully, we can upload the app by the end of this week.

Every day is a slow movement, doubting whether I should continue with this route, but I think I should stick to it since we're getting a handful of sales every other day.

Today tried running paid ads, it's a $15 daily budget to test with. I got avg. cpc $1.95 and out of the $15.80 spent, I only got 2 installs. last time I ran paid ad my avg. cpc was $0.08 , I can't believe what's happening now.

What are your guys' thoughts on this, this is a total rip-off from google

For iOS or Android?

Do multiple offers on offerwalls
I recommend you to use an app called "Island" it gives you a work profile on your phone to repeat the offers multiple times just keep resetting it after every offer you complete

Update:
For those who're wondering, I haven't given up and abandoned the thread yet :D

Just released 1 new app 3 days ago.

For the last payout, I made $166, the next payout is already higher than $300.

This is obviously only 2 of my android apps, still in the development phase for the IOS apps.

The thing is, it's really hard to scale this to thousands, atleast for me. so I am currently mostly focusing on 2 of my web-based SAAS apps that are high ticket and one client can pay more than the entire payout of the last month.
So my plan is to keep 3 of my Android apps running and replicate them on IOS and let everything run on autopilot and if it started to make enough money, I would hire a VA that will take care of customer support, because apparently some android users are blind, they don't understand you how hard you try to make things simple, they will screw up and contact you.

Now, this amount I get from Android apps is enough for me to pay server cost, phone bills, internet bills as well as paying for some expiring domains and all these digital expenses, so I am really happy with how things turned out even though I expected more when starting, now I think I am already lucky with relatively quick success.

Thanks, and I will update you guys in few weeks.

Hello and congrats! In a similar journey.

How do you launch your apps? My understanding is that you haven't had much luck with paid advertising. Do you rely solely on organic traffic? How long does it take to pick up for you?

Thank you.

Thank you, I normally lunch with paid ads with a really low budget like $15/day for 2-3 days, and then kill the ads and that's enough, I would wait for around 2 weeks for the app to be indexed and it goes from there.
My best-performing app is now getting 150-200 installs a day organically, I currently don't run ads but planning to, for the newly lunched app, but before that I need to expand my server capability.

I am really depending on luck and playing with keywords here and there, plus this android app thing is not my main focus currently, so I am a bad example tbh.

Good luck with your journey, have read your thread and I think you have what it takes.

It's worth noting that my apps are earning through in-app purchases, and none of my apps contain ads.
so far I made $500+ with around 7k installs for both apps, pretty good and it's impossible to generate that through adMob or whatever.
