Journey to growing my content business

Hi! I'd like to document how I will grow my content business. I discovered a new SEO platform and thought to myself "Why not write articles to earn some cash?"

So that's what I did. I created a listing offering 500 words of content for 5 bucks that will be delivered within one day.

It took about a week till I got my first sale. Excited I quickly made the content and sent it to my client. The review came and the orders slowly started to pour in. Did 6 more orders over time. I made roughly $35 bucks. I screwed up on a $12 dollar sale because I stupidly offered 99% commissions (it was my idea of getting a review asap.) Forgot to remove it. Put it back to the normal 20%.



I grew impatient. I wanted to do more orders. I wanted to grow this shit as fast as possible.

So I went to the 4 other competitors who compete with me and grabbed the list of all their reviewers. I emailed each and everyone that they should check out my gig and that I'm faster and cheaper. I think I sent 35 people messages.

Another way I plan to scale the service is through facebook ads.

Maybe even ppc.

Then I'll list some service on other platforms like upwork. Too bad my fiverr gig isn't making any cash.

Got another order.

Screwed up another guy's order because I didn't fulfill what he wanted. Luckily, he wanted a revision so chances are I can resolve the situation without getting a bad review.

Bought a logo on fiverr and awaiting arrival. Branding doesn't hurt and it can be used in my future plans of using FB ads. Learning more about fb ads.

Going to wait a few days and consider raising prices. Not sure if this is doable because the core of my sales pitch is fast and cheap. Which is why I created another listing where I offer high end content at higher prices. That way I can do cheap & expensive at the same time.

Maybe I'll take it further and use google keyword planner to find terms related to content buying. And since the platform has a high DA, I can blast it with some links to get some rankings.

I know this kind of thing is boring and not as exciting as other threads. (Guess that's how it's going to be.) But I think this is a good example of earning some little side cash to invest in bigger projects. Having made $30-40 dollars so far (not sure because of fees and stuff) with the right advertising I can scale it to make a few hundred dollars or even bigger depending on how far I want to take this.

And that's a good amount of money to invest in your affiliate seo, local seo or whatever.

Definitely not doing this forever though. Selling my time for cash can only scale so far.

You can't really scale a system where you're trading your time for money
I'm investing tens of € per day outsourcing content and my copywriters are making an active work.
Their value ends when they deliver the content, my revenues potentially never end (passive vs active/short term).

In any case good luck with your journey, although I know you'll reach a limit when you can't be able to create a bigger amount of contents on a daily basis.
For this let me know about your idea of "scalability"

Yeah, that's the issue. I don't mind since I'm 18 and living with parents. No expenses really. So I'm lucky in that department. In order to scale I can write content in a shorter period of time. Even if I do that I can only go so far. That much I recognize.

So in order to generate more revenue I'm going to increase the price slowly. I also discovered Constant Content and decided to give it a shot. Sent in my sample and contact info. Let's see if I get in. Constant Content appears great because writers can get paid more

I really have nothing to do besides relax, work at job and work on side business. So I have plenty of time on my hand. I'm really in a fortunate position.

I can scale this if I hire other people to write for me. And I'm really limiting myself to delivering it to one day. If it really becomes an issue I can increase the number of days that I need to deliver it on.

I have some friends who will write articles for shit pay. So that's one option. Other options include combing through all the cheap writers and finding the rare gem.

Regardless, this isn't my end game. I know there's going to be a point where there's only so much I can do. Just planning to earn some side cash to invest in bigger and better things.

Finished two orders and got a big one. $30 sale! It's for four 500 word articles.

Decided to raise prices to test the market.

Made $100+ in sales. Got repeat customers who ordered bulk orders.

Created a high end listing offering really good content at a high price which nailed me a $20 sale.

I also created a Amazon review listing. Made $10 in sales by selling Amazon reviews.

PMed a bunch of my competitors to see if they'd be interested in having my listing redirect to their listings or have it shut down for $150.

I would roughly make $350 in sales if I end up selling it. Then I'll create another journey describing how I invest that money

If not then I'll continue to take on more orders and shut it down at $500 or $1000 in sales. This is doable within a few weeks because I have many happy customers who are reordering. It's a pain in the ass.

(Interesting to note that no one really gives a shit. Guess it's not as fancy as the rest of the other threads.)

Did a bunch of orders since the last time I posted.

No one took up my offer for selling it. Oh well. Raised prices for my main service. Added a health article content service. Raised prices on my high end content service. Someone bought. Added a PBN content listing as well as a article rewrite service. Here are the list of all services that I have now

Fiverr Reviews - $15
Amazon Reviews - $15
High End Content - $30 for 1000 words
Main Content - $8 for 500 words
Article Rewrite - $4 for 500 words
PBN content - $3 for 500 words
Health Content - $20 for 500 words


Might game the platform's system and get a friend to order stuff and refund them to get a boost in their listings.

Trust me, there are a lot of people who are following this journey but not making any comments regarding it. I usually follow a lot of threads here without being active and making any comments regarding what other people are doing, but I decided to make a comment on your progression.

I think you are going in the right direction as you know what you are doing. You created a goal and you are moving towards your goal extremely accurate and fast. I am delighted to see these types of thread and soon enough, I am going down the same road as you are. I know it is lot of trouble to fulfill other people's orders but I am also 18 as you are and I think this will an awesome way to earn some side cash.

Took a break from content writing for the past 2 days as it really is a pain in the ass.

Probably will do a facebook ad to advertise my more expensive content services. When I reach 50 posts I'll probably go for JV with someone who can promote my stuff. That can get me a couple more orders.

Once I earn enough side cash I can invest that money into other projects.

Thanks to my little SEO to the platform I'm much more visible to potential customers. Getting FB ads ready and will update once I have a campaign running.

Don't worry OP. No one is commenting on my thread either. My method definitely isn't glamorous (I'm writing an eBook to sell) but that's not why I update it. It's to keep track of my journey and to hold myself accountable for my actions. In the end it's going to feel good when I reach my goal of releasing it. Even if I only make a tiny bit of money, at least I did something​.

I'm getting a steady supply of orders. I have one client that gives me 30 dollars in business each day. Today, I did nearly 100 dollars worth of articles for the client.

Majority of my revenues come from repeat business. People order 20-40 dollars worth of stuff.

Decide that there really isn't a need for a facebook campaign. I already have a lot of work on my plate.

Got some of the work outsourced because it's kind of overwhelming. It is manageable though.

If I want to increase sales I can just make the commissions a bit higher (platform has that feature.) Lot of money is coming my way and I'm looking for ways to invest it.

I consider this journey officially over. I have a side business that is consistently making me cash every week. Side money is great. And things are only going to get better.

I'll stop writing articles once my other endeavors are working out.
