Day 12

Good news for this update. My alpha site is finally in the SERPs. It is ranking top 150 for both the main keywords. This was about 12 hours ago and because of issues with my internet I can't check again. I have no internet atm and am posting from my phone.

Tomorrow I am too busy to do much work on my sites but I will do a full update when my internet is fixed which should be same time tomorrow.

Thanks for the input and support . I agree with you, although I am more focused on reaching my goal and documenting the whole process, I just hope that is easy to follow and informative so that others can find this helpful if/when I achieve my goal.
 
Day 13

As I said yesterday there really isn't much to update. I didn't do anything for either site as I have had other commitments. The good news was that I appeared in the SERP's yesterday and have moved a bit higher today as well. I was going to post pics of my Serpbook account but as I am still under 50 posts I can't so i'll just type them

KW1- 141
KW2- 117

Keyword 1 gets over 4000 searches and keyword 2 gets over 2000.

I was going to let Alpha sit for a week but as it is ranking now I am more motivated to add content to it.

Next Week:


  • By the end of next week I want at least one kw to be in the top 50
  • I want to have enough content written for Beta to start SEO ~17 more posts.

Those are my two main goals to accomplish, so my clickbank site will be taking a backseat for this week. That's all for this update.
 
Day 14

Added 2 articles to my Alpha site, re edited a couple of articles and I found about 5-6 more keywords to target for that niche. Moved about 9 spaces in the SERPs on my main kw but that was it. I'm going to keep adding content over the next week. Didn't do anything for my other sites except keyword research.

That's about it for this update as nothing else worth mentioning happened. Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Page 2, I've noticed that if someone is consistent and their journey makes it to 5 pages they make money. I have yet to see a 5 page journey where they didn't make anything so 3 pages to go :p.

Day 15

I didn't do much again, I have just been lazy with my sites. I wrote 3 articles for my beta website and started working on the final design. I have 5 pages of content total now of the 20 I want before I start SEO.
Alpha site hasn't moved since yesterday but a lot of longtails are appearing in webmaster tools and my impressions have doubled. Also received my second click although that was from bing.
I think the problem with my lack of productivity was the absence of goals to achieve that day. To remedy this I will decide the night before what I want to achieve the following day.
Tomorrow:
Beta

  • Write 5 articles for Beta
  • Fix my layout for posts on Beta
  • Add amazon affiliate links to my posts.
Alpha

  • Write 1 article
  • Add filler content to my 5 handmade Web2.0's
  • Start backlinking my Web 2.0s with GSA

If i can get even half that done I will be more productive than I am being lately. Writing them out also made me realise that I am struggling for tasks to complete. Tomorrow I will work on a longer plan as well so I have more idea of what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks for reading
 
Day 16

Today I found out that alpha is 30 for a keyword with around 300 monthly searches and 41 for one with 350. The other ranks are steadily improving at about 2-3 spots per day after the initial jump. Got my first traffic from google and it was for the keyword ranked 41. This was previously 150 something but it looks like my web 2.0s pushed it up a bit.

I completed about 50% of my tasks by writing 3 articles, setting up my posts. I didn't add filler content to my web 2.0's or add an article to Alpha. Other than that i'm almost at the 50 post mark so I will be able to post screenshots of my Serpbook rankings and traffic soon.

Tomorrow I have other things to do but I plan to write at least 5 articles, and start backlinking my other longtails.

I had plans to make some backlinks with GSA as I had a free trial but I didn't realise i'd had it for 5 days so it ran out when I was trying to use it today and never got to properly test it. I need to start backlinking properly i'm just really hesitant to drop 100 dollars on software atm.

Day 17

Unfortunately nothing much to update today, had to do a lot of grunt work to earn some money so I can buy GSA SER. I wrote an article for Beta site but that's about all I really had time for. Tomorrow is my day off so I plan to get a lot done. If anyone has any experience with GSA SER I'd like to know if it's worth the money but i'll probably buy that tomorrow. My sites are all moving up still and my impressions doubled. Unfortuantely I didn't get any clicks from that though.

Day 18

At the end of today this has probably been one of my most productive. I've done almost everything I set out to do and have made some good progress with my new site. I also bought GSA SER I wasn't really sure if I should be investing more atm seeing as I hadn't seen any returns but if I learn how to use it properly it will save me a lot down the road. The only problem is everytime I try to install it I get an error saying files are corrupt and need to redownload it. I've contacted the guy that made the BST so hopefully I get a fix soon.

Alpha

Finally got around to writing that article for it
One of my keywords dropped out of the SERPs I'm hoping it will jump back higher than ever.

Wrote 3 articles for this site
I can now set up 2 of my main "pillar" pages
I have 13 of my 20 articles I want before I start SEO

Other than that I got a few more impressions, but still no clicks from them, got some visitors off another search and finally put adsense on the site. That's all for today, thanks for reading
 
Day 19

Short update today, I spent most of the day learning how to use GSA SER. Think I finally have a basic understanding but that is some complicated software. I finally started turning beta into a proper site, I've added all my articles to be posted over the next week or so. Made my pillar article for one of the keywords. I need to add a lot more to the site still and the design sucks atm.

Sent some backlinks to my Web2.0's. I don't know how many of them stuck they were just blog comments done with GSA as I tested it out. That was about all I did today.

My keywords are bouncing around everywhere and the main ones aren't moving. I have around 250 backlinks according to ahrefs so I don't know if I should just wait a bit to see if I'm going to rank or build some more links. I'll probably wait a bit longer and focus on ranking some longtails.

Also I forgot to update my expenses yesterday, they are starting to buil up especially since I haven't made a cent yet.

Hey OP,

Good luck on your journey. If your website is having issues ranking then look into your keywords. Let me tell you one thing Long Tail Pro or any keyword tool is only good for scrapping data and checking the stats. The "keyword difficulty" modules are pretty much useless.

Download a trial of Market Samurai and analyze your keyword by looking at the top 10 websites on google. Honestly, if you want your website to convert then try to find KW's that are easy to rank and have a chance to get in the top 10.

thanks, I realise that but they also allow you to have a look at the top ten, which I did. I looked on market samurai but never having ranked a site before I'm not 100% sure what to look for in an easy to rank niche. This site is more a learning experience than a proper attempt at a sustainable income. The other sites are for that after I get a formula.
 
Day 20

20 days into the journey and so far $0 made. This is a bit disappointing but I'm not discouraged and I'm actually pretty happy I have stayed consistent with these updates for that long. Anyway some good news is my site is getting about 5 visitors a day although none of that has turned into an adsense click yet.
I remembered I bought scrapebox years ago for my first attempt at making money online and decided to redownload it. This should come in handy for scraping high pr backlinks. Having a little trouble getting it running but hopefully support will respond soon. Did some more backlinking with GSA starting to figure it out a bit more and will start doing proper backlinks soon.

Mainly worked on backlinks today and got distracted watching a TV show. Bit of a waste but I needed a bit of a break from writing articles as it is getting tedious. A lot of my articles targeting longtails do not appear in the SERPs even if its low comp so I think i'm doing something wrong there so tomorrow will be focused on fixing that up and probably more backlinking.

Day 21

Today I just updated articles to target longtails properly. I think I dun goofed though as I selected an option on wordpress seo by yoast that changed all my articles urls. So now im going to have to wait for the new urls to index to see if my changes helped. Other than that all of my rankings took a hit. Not sure if google dancing or worse. My one longtail article in the top 30 is out of the SERPs and the keywords my main page was ranking for either dropped a couple of hundred places or dropped out of the SERPs completely.

Not too worried as I haven't got a message in webmaster tools, just waiting for them to bounce back. As all my articles will now have to reindex I am just going to leave Alpha for a week and work on Beta fulltime. It is coming along nicely and should be ready for launch by the end of the week.

Small update today, did a lot of editing really that's about it. Tried to run a GSA campaign but i'm still learning so it failed. Rankings are still crazy some have come back and others disappeared. Nothing else just want to keep posting as it keeps me on track, thanks for following

Almost didn't update today as I got so little done. I've been using GSA SER for a while and have quite a few links now. Edited all of my articles and should see some changes in their rankings soon. Nothing else down though. My rankings are as unstable as ever but I've seen some improvements. Thanks for reading.
