Update 6:
I made my first sale!! $30 item. Made my first dollar.
So I was wrong about no affilliate link clicks. I didn't realize the reports only update at the end of the day. I actually had 21 clicks 2 days ago and 29 clicks yesterday! One of those clicks yesterday converted into a sale.
Also something I bought that has no relation at all to my niche ended up on my affiliate report. I have no idea how that happened. I opened a ticket to get it removed, hopefully they don't just ban me outright.
Anyways, added amazon native ads to my articles. Using the custom ones with products that I mention in the article. Bit more work, but seems to have increased clicks. Ended up with a bit more than 200 UV yesterday again.
I need to get back to building web2.0s, it kinda fell by the wayside with the focus on generating more content and promoting on social media. Still waiting on adsense approval. Today I'm going to work on adding Pinterest to my social media promotion.

Yup I figured out it's just an extension of their affiliate program. Works for me since I wanted to make the product offerings more visible.

Way to go! Great journey and loving that you're hitting some sales already! I have a site at zero I'm trying to get going with and another that's established but I'm starting to do more unique content for. Grammarly has been a big help to improve the readability of my writing even though I'm a native English speaker, some of the technical stuff about writing was lost on me in school. If you're spinning articles, it really helps with the readability of those articles. I'll use it as a second pass on spun content after I read it and fix the stuff that doesn't make sense.
Copyscape is good to test uniqueness. They give you a set number of scans per website per month, so don't be like me and blow your free budget scanning the article after updating each paragraph. I'm looking into getting "Wicked Article Creator" to help with the articles for the tier 2 and 3 sites. $30 one time fee and the trial puts out decent enough content.
One thing I thought of when you mentioned your GF's degree and selling an ebook... why not give away the ebook to build your mailing list? Can make a short book on a specific topic or two (maybe Keto diet or carb cycling for weight loss, or 13 exercises for a flat belly) then start using the mailing list to sell items targeted to that book's sub-niche and promote your new articles. That would require tags or some type of segmentation inside your mailing list program, based on which list they joined. I'm sure there are some threads here on monetizing a mailing list.

To use a PBN for a single site costs are way too high and gains too low, you're better off buying links and guest posts. With about $1600 (of which $800 for links) I ranked #4 and #17 for some medium competition keywords in just 2.5 months, by just buying links/guest posts/etc. These are local international keywords (e.g. hospital paris, hospital france) You just need to know what you're doing and what is worth buying.

That's interesting an interesting idea about giving away the ebook. I can think of a smaller topic she can make another ebook about. The main one I had in mind would be much bigger and I think would sell really well. So maybe goung both routes would be a good option.
Interesting. That's kind of what I was thinking. I think guest posts are going to be very effective in this niche. I'm already looking at some smaller fish that I can outreach to for links. Would offering a guest post for a guest post be a bad idea or should I just straight up offer money?

As long as it’s only a few here and there, you should be fine. As a general rule, people say google can detect that, but if your velocity from exchange guest posts is low and your link profile is diversified, you should be good

Ok, big news today guys! Made a post in some facebook groups and people went crazy clicking it. I had 60 people on my site at one point last night...and they clicked on affiliate links! I had 11 sales yesterday and 82 clicks. Insane. Average item was worth around $12. So not a ton, but wow. I had a bit over 600 UV yesterday. I'm hype now, I know I can have success with this now.
Organic traffic is going to be a battle, but I'm going to expand my social media promotion to Pinterest today. Got a little bit of traffic from instagram today. Like 10 UV. Total followers is almost 2.9k. Continuing to build my list of small fish to try to get guest posts. Also going to make a few web2.0s today.
I'm really excited guys. I never thought I would have close to a sale on day 6, let alone a total of 12!

A question for anyone who does this: When you are creating content to be published at a later date, how are you writing it? On a word processor? HTML editor? As posts to the site on say WP for example?
I don't think I would have a problem creating content I'm just not particularly sure of the best way to go about doing so.
