Journey from Zero to Authority Site

Update 4:

Alright, guys, big things have happened since I last updated. Content is officially up on the website. I have 2 pillar articles at around 3k words each, 4 informational posts around 1k each, and a review. The instagram account is growing quickly, it should hit 2.8k followers today. An influencer with 450k followers has said he will shout out my website once it has a little more content on it. Totally free. It's good to know people. ;) I have 4 posts in the backlog that are written and just need to be edited and formatted. Which I'll be doing today.

I've also been very slowly promoting the website in facebook groups. 5 comments have caused my best day so far. 30 UV! On day 4 of the website officially being up. None of the traffic is organic, but I don't even care. Any traffic this early in the game is crazy. Going to focus on filling the website with more content as my main goal. Driving traffic is going to be secondary until the website is a little bit meatier.

I've also decided to monetize the site with ads. People in this niche hate sales but are voracious for information. I know that I can get some clicks to the website by just providing value. I will have affiliate links too, but since 99% of this traffic is going to be tier 1 countries, I feel like putting some ads on it is probably a good idea. Thoughts?

Also this niche is way, way, way more saturated than I thought. I'm getting a little discouraged by it but trying not to be. Organic traffic to this site is probably going to be a year or more down the line. There are some truly crazy sites I'm competing with. Like one site has over 7m monthly traffic, but most of the big sites are around 300k-700k. Some of their link profiles are insane too. Like 200k backlinks from 1k+ domains. I'll never beat that. There are some sites that get good organic traffic (~100k monthly) that have around 6k backlinks and 400 referring domains. That seems more realistic to reach one day. Am I crazy for trying to do this? I only need a small part of this very large pie to make good money. I just don't want to be screaming into the void. Any thoughts?

The plan, for now, is to really focus on grinding out quality content. I'm not trying to look like I'm selling anything. Just providing value with ads in the future + affiliate links. Providing value seems to bring in the clicks. Do you guys think I'm going in the right direction with this?

Thanks, everyone!
Yes you are on the right track... Just focus on the quality content. And quality backlinks.

Thanks bro, I don't want to feel like I'm wasting my time, but I'm also getting some views so early on. So that's encouraging!

SM traffic is the way to go until the site gets seo traction on its own.
Good luck with your journey op.

Thanks bro. I'm at 46 UV now and that just seems crazy to me because I've seriously hardly done any promoting haha. Hopefully AdSense approves me soon lol.

EDIT: What do you guys think of Amazon native ads instead of AdSense? I haven't heard anything about them before.

Sounds really interesting and good luck op, it seems like you have all the bases covered as well as being realistic. Also, you have the ability to create links and valuable content yourself so that gives you a great start as well as saving money I honestly feel with what you've said this should be successful for you, especially after yiyve done the most important job, the keyword research

Thanks! That's really encouraging. I'm trying to do 99% by myself. Once/if this starts bringing in money, I'll outsource some of the monotonous tasks to VAs.

No worries, I mean it. Keeping track of your work and progress and as you say if its successful just roll out the same framework to VAs. Please do keep us updated as and when you can. That's another reason this forum does so well, the quality of what people give regards case studies, opportunities, link ideas and support to others etc

That's the goal here. Find out what works and doesn't work and try to spread that to the community. I'm a total IM newbie. If I can do it, anyone can. This forum has given me so much and I hope I can give even 1% of that back.

How do you plan to STRUCTURE the content?

Basically just one main keyword or 1 main keyword with sub-sections/tips for sub-topics?

Also, what kind of length do you have in mind? Less than 2K words?

Finally, since this is an authority site, do you plan to start with longtail topics or go straight to RESOURCE type keywords/topics?

I hear a hint of Incomeschool.com (Pillar posts). Keep adding content. Don't forget Reddit in SM marketing. Good luck.

Update 5:

So yesterday was amazing but also brings up a new challenge. I had 194 UV yesterday. It was all traffic from some facebook groups I posted in. I posted for about an hour and a half off and on in a few niche related groups. Always comments answering questions. Never my own posts.

I would answer the question and then add a relevent link from my website and say if they want to learn more, read this article. My girlfriend is the face of the website, so it didn't look like self-promotion. That probably helped a lot.

Here's the problem though, I got exactly 0 clicks on my affilliate links. Not a single one I didn't expect a conversion with this small amount of traffic, but I feel like 1 click with 200 UV is realistic. Maybe not though! Let me know if I'm crazy.

Maybe I've set up my affilliate links poorly. I have them all contexual. Then at the end of reviews "if you want to buy it online click here, etc etc."

My girlfriend has a tangently related masters degree, so I'm thinking of having her write and ebook and promoting that on the site. Might be a better route than relying on amazon sales. These people are crazy about getting more info, so I think an ebook would sell.

I still haven't been approved for ads yet. So I can't really monetize this traffic yet. Should I keep promoting the site? Or should I wait until I have ads up. Any thoughts? Are there any health related ad networks that approve faster than adsense?

Thanks for any help you guys might be able to give! :)

I have a number of keywords I want to rank for, the length of the article depends on the keyword. Hard to explain. I have a mixture of long tails Im targetting and resource type keywords. Sorry it's hard to explain without giving up my niche.

Good luck with the journey.

Thank you!

Nah, I've never looked at any of their stuff. I've purely used BHW resources. Thanks! Reddit is the next step for my social media promoting.

I'm using the same social media traffic in an effort to elevate my monthly stats so that I can hopefully jump to Ezoic from generic Adsense ads. Other than that, the social media traffic I get had little conversion just like you are seeing.

Interesting. I'm thinking since these people aren't coming to the site with a buying intent, they obviously aren't buying. They are coming wanting information though, so maybe they'll buy info?

Amazing. I will follow this thread and good luck.

Thank you!

How's the bounce rate on the SM traffic? Great journey, I'm doing something similar so I'll be following closely.

Good to go. You can get better conversion, decent cookie system. Go ahead with amazon native ads.

Following.

Great to see BHW journey section alive and something different that is not dropshipping!

Best regards and good luck.

I'm not sure, my google analytics isn't showing me that yet I get like 1.5 page views per visitor though.

Thanks. Does amazon pay per impression or clicks at all? Or is it jusr conversions. From what I'm understanding, it's just conversions.
