[Journey] Building an iOS & Android App Empire

Sorry for the late update. I have been super busy and sick. Dealt with it for like 3 weeks. First I got a food poisoning and then I got covid. Lost 5kg, completely f*cked up. Still recovering now. So far October has been a mess, but I am looking forward to get back to work asap.

In September I published a few udpates for my apps, which increased the conversion rate of the IAP. Also I fixed some bugs.

I will provide you guys with numbers soon. I have to go through all the accounts myself first to see how much I earned.
Oh i am so sorry bro, these guys can do whatever they want and our whole hard work gets vanished in no time.

Update for September and October

Sorry for the late update! Went through some health issues as I mentioned before.

The months September and October were almost identically to August. Mostly for two reasons: I didn't do any work (only updated apps and fixed issues here and there) and I just kept the same ad sets. Since beginning of October I noticed the performance of Google ads decreased a lot. I am not sure why, but from one day to another the traffic stopped converting to IAPs.

During September I had one of my best days ever making $700+ from IAPs alone.

The income of each months was stable with around $13-15k. As I said it didn't really change much, also because I haven't put work in it. But I really see the chances and I want to scale it up. I don't want to make $15k, I want to make $30k and more.

Here is what I will do next:

- Focus on advertising (creating ad creatives for Meta/TikTok)
- Try new ad networks, especially Twitter and Pinterest
- Publish at least two new apps this month

I think especially when it comes to the app market, speed is absolutely key. You have to stuff done as soon as possible, as fast as possible, with the best possible quality. So what I worked on from very early on was to create a framework that I can use for many other apps and niches. So I only need to create 2-3 screens and make some changes depending on the niche/app (whatever it needs).

It is probably the best way to scale: Publish as many apps as possible, see what works and how it converts. This is what I am going to do for this and next month.

Hi, another good month.
Is your strategy currently quantity over quality for launching apps, and then improve quality and features over time if the app gets downloads/revenue?

With the ads, what kind of creatives are you using? Are they more static photo ads or UGC style?

I think ive been spending too much time perfecting the apps before launching.
Cheers

ChatGPT just changed the game once again. You can now pair the ChatGPT MacOS app with Xcode and it can read your entire code. Makes it so much easier to develop apps!

Hi,Guys I really need your assistance ...I want to start publishing games, which is the best between android and IOS for a stable income and what niches do you have in mind.

I think it a good step up, I would like to also have the feature where they know all the project structure and so on!

I added a free trial before, but 95% of the users would cancel just right away. Literally make the free trial and within the next minute cancel. So now I don't offer a free trial. Instead I added a credits system to some of my apps, where they have free tries and they are being shown rewarded ads. So in this way I still make money and they still can test the app. The free trial stuff can be really useful, if you have any app that helps users long term. For example, pregnancy tracker, diet tracker, and so on. But if you have a practical app, that users just need for 1-2 days or just wanna get something done, they will cancel right away.
This sounds like an interesting way to let users try the app although I'm not quite clear what it involves. You show them a rewarded ad and then what, the app premium mode is fully unlocked for three days or something? Or you mean they have to watch rewarded ads each day to keep premium mode unlocked?

Btw I went through the entire journey - extremely useful and informative.

@nakamura How many apps do you have in Android and iOS respectively.
For Android, only 5 apps. I didn't upload any new one since Google kept up this hostile shit. Quite the opposite, they suspended even more apps out of nowhere without any reason. Imagine having an app for 2 years without ANY problems and then suddenly it gets suspended out of the blue for the most random reason you can imagine. How can you build any sustainable business?

For iOS, I have around 35 apps. Why so many? 15-20 of them are older apps that I mainly monetize through ads (mostly AdMob). The rest I published since end of 2022 and their primary income is through IAP.

For the past 5 months I almost didn't publish any app due to personal stuff going on and I got sick quite heavily a few times. Now I focus more on publishing as many apps as possible. Thats my goal for December: I wanna publish 3 apps.

Lately I've been using a bit of Cursor, and switching between XCode and Cursor. It's nice that you can force it to read context of folders/subfolders for any request on the spot.
