Just wait for this journey to take forever because I literally got the number off the top of my head.

However, I feel like it will be a nice read for people who's never made a single dollar in IM.

So let's get into it.

I've been working on this blog for a couple months now. Haven't been loading with content, but mostly posting 1-2 times a week. Good quality content, 1000+ words, some go up to 5k.

Probably keeping the same posting schedule. Working on the converting home page with an email opt-in form which will be offering a free gift.

Want to get into FB ads, but need to create either a woocommerce store or a high converting product page to direct traffic to before that, as directing to informative articles will in most cases have negative ROI.

Doing some on-page and off-page SEO, have some low comp keywords ranking decently in SERP.

Monetization will mostly be affiliate. If the store will show some potential, will be investing more in designs and advertisement. A lot to test still.

Plan:

Keep posting high quality content 1-2 times a week.
Optimize the home page.
Order/create designs for the clothing line (still a lot of uncertainty)
Keep off-page SEO in mind, no rush here

Blogging is tough but putting quality contents beats everything, All the best!

Good luck, following. Stay consistent.

Good Luck For Journey !

Thanks guys, will be updating you soon.

I know it’s not gonna be easy but I am quite determined.

Decided to create the journey kind of see myself developing + it will be a sweet case study if I actually get somewhere.

Thanks for your support boys!

[UPDATE]

Finished working on the home page, added a little freebie for the visitors to start getting some emails here and there.

Written another blog post. Still have a bunch keywords I want to target on my list.

Thinking to starting a new section which would be interviews with influencers in my niche, gonna send a couple DMs and emails, let's see if that'd be something worth my time.

luck!

blog is very important, even the good quality content, when the time pasted, the good blog will feedback you more money.

good luck again.

I'm working on a similar project myself. How's your traffic/rankings been? What off-page SEO have you done? Bought links?

One last question: Aside from home page + blog page, (perhaps the same thing for you) what pages do you have? Email subscription page and About us?

Good luck!

Edit: Also interested in an update! It's been a while :anyway:

I am getting about 1000 users a month, ranking for over 500 keywords, but only a handful on the first page. I've purchased a few links from here at the very start but found out that some services can harm as opposed to boosting. Now I mostly get expired domains in the related niches to redirect to my page.

I do have the blogs separated by categories, about us, and a disclaimer.

Yeah, it's been a while indeed. Didn't really have anything major to report in terms of money or visitors. I set a few milestones for me such as 50 visitors/day or 1000 visitors/month or ranking for 500 keywords. I don't know if that's worth reporting, you feel me?

Goodluck your journey!

Good luck, following this journey :)

Thanks guys!

how will you monetize it only adsense or adsense+affiliate ?

Thanks very much for answering my questions!

How much are you making per month?

Do you write all your content or outsource it? If so, how much do you pay for copywriting?

How did this went? I extensively leverage this, has worked wonders for me in almost every niche I worked in.

Things are often slow, how are you handling linkbuilding and social?

Honestly haven't noticed any major differences but I have to admit I didn't put a lot of work and marketing into that.

I don't use any automation software for now, as twitter and IG don't convert well and my niche is not good for pinterest. Mostly my facebook page. But I do post on all of them here and there.

Linkbuilding is hard to focus on alongside with writing content, so recently I've lowered amount of content I post and increased the amount of time I spend linkbuilding. I found that content that is high quality still has problem getting to the first page if there is no linkbuilding involved, so I think building extra links will do.

Did you write your own content or planning to buy some?

I did similar and write it on my own.. The deadline is tight, but couldn't find any good content writer to fill it up. Here I am, stuck with the content update.. :'(

Ya man, I write my own content as I am pretty picky with the wording and structure. It will probably be more work to explain how to write it and then I’ll also have to pay lol.

Initially, I thought the same when I started with this as well. But, as time passed by and I started putting in more hours trying to understand my niche, it got extremely easy for me. Networking, coming up with ideas, etc that generated crazy traction got easy. Took me like 2 months to settle in a niche properly, but works great. You should try it, will give you a lot of guest posting opportunities as well.

I'll look into that for sure!

Update:

Received a few bucks from Amazon, the first so called "passive income". Haven't been posting link anywhere but on my blog, so it feels good to see some people actually clicking without any keywords ranking in the top 3. I am sure that it could've been 10 times as much if I was number one instead of #15 for a keyword. So there is a lot of room for improvement.

Starting messaging influencers in my niche and actually have received quite a few replies. So working on that. Linkbuilding and posting on relevant forums has been an improvement as well. Takes time, but worth it.

So far it's all slowly but steadily getting better.

[update]

started doing interviews with influencers in my niche and had them upload the article screenshot to their social medias. Brought in a lot of traffic, definetely only for a little bit. I feel like having adsense on the website would've been great at this point.

Moreover, I've read that having purely informative articles on your blog is crucial. So interviews seem to add more content that is not "best of" or "top 10". Hopefully google will find this a good thing.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

First of all, sorry for not updating the journey - my blog has been through a lot of ups and downs over the past year-ish, and there was little of importance to document. While this journey may look like someone who's wanted to do something but gave up early on, that's not the case here :D

I've been discouraged multiple times since starting this journey with basically ZERO experience in both writing and SEO. However, I've never stopped pushing and working on my site.

This time last year, my earnings were under $100/month. This April, my site has brought me over 1400$.

So, I guess, the message here is that you can do this too!

From $0 and lack of any knowledge about IM, thanks to BHW, I can say that I am actually proud of what I've accomplished. At least now there is something to show for hours and hours that I've spent on the site after my 9-to-5 and the parties / get-togethers that I've missed.

I am not going to talk about any sacrifices here, but I can surely tell you that it does take time and effort and sometimes you do have to miss a few events here and there and work on your project. However, I have no regrets.

Because that's what I've been doing pretty much every day after work, I've burned at least a couple of times too. It sucks but it's inevitable. Plus, get ready for the added stress with all the new Google, Amazon, and other updates, reviews from your ad networks and affiliates once in a while, and so on. Let me tell you - it's worth it.

With Covid-19 and world-wide lockdowns, I can tell you that I felt a little bit more secure with this extra income from my site. While I pretty much spend everything I make on more content and links, I knew that in the worst case I could use the money for basic necessities if needed, which definitely lifts some financial stress.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

If you were to ask me what I'd like to do with my life even 3 years ago, when I was in college, I'll answer simply - get a career in the field I am studying and work my way up. However, things didn't pan out as planned and I couldn't get a job in the industry and had to (and still have to) work jobs that aren't related to what I've studied.

While I was bummed at the moment, clearly, it was for the better. It would've been nice to get a job that pays 70-100k a year, but I could not even imagine what would happen if I got laid off, for instance. Working lower pay jobs and hanging out with people from different income gaps has taught me to be smart with money and respect (or not respect) people for what they are and how they treat others, whether they are making 10k or 200k a year.

I've also learned that partying every weekend doesn't have to be a must. In fact, partying in college was the only reason I've had so many - who doesn't like to drink in a good company. Now, I have fewer friends, but we don't have to go to bars to catch up - a couple of games of CS:GO or just hanging out in Discord is another good way to spend time together (that doesn't involve spending $100+ a night on cabs and overpriced drinks).

Finally, thanks BHW community.

I'd also like to thank @Geasy, @WebMinati, @Jeepy, @JamaicanMoose, and MANY others who were nice and helpful whenever I sent them a PM with a question or asking for a suggestion. Mods are doing an amazing and noble job here as well. Thank you all, guys!

I may start another journey or hold on for a bit, but I am definitely in a better place in life right now - and with work, effort, and A LOT of patience, you can make your life a notch better as well :)

P.S. Don't buy links from links from Sarkark21 or Parker2010 - you'll thank me later ;)
