I have been hesitant about the idea of starting a journey. I thought to myself that I would only start a journey once I had found something that worked. Then people would care what I had to say. I now know after reading through several of these journeys that my favorite things ti read is how something failed. I like to see what they tried and how it did not work.
Thus, begins my story, about 7 years after it has started. I have been dabbling in the field of internet marketing, but I had been busy with my studies for my masters in biomedical engineering. I have finished and I have been "hardcore dabbling now for about a year. I have had my ups and downs, and I kept telling myself that I would keep track of all of this so that I could come back and write a good guide as to how I got where I am. Well that fell through.
So, here is my guides reincarnation. I will be trying to keep a fairly frequent log of my going ons and try and keep them informative so that it may help some future generation.
I will try and first start by getting everyone up to speed that is interested. I originally started lurking on BHW and some other sites about 7 years ago. I always liked BHW but never had the time to devote to anything on it. I didnt even register until last year when I felt obligated to thank someone for a download. After that I experienced some moderate success and got hooked. Since it will be quicker lets start with my success.
My wife and I have a pretty good business of selling goods online from Etsy and our store. These are mostly hand made, props and such so I wouldnt call it internet market. We have been able to bring in about 1-3k per month with this business across etsy, our website, and ebay. When starting out, I did have to perform some minor SEO and I could noticeably see the difference in traffic and conversion in our shops. This was my proverbial "Ah-Ha" moment about SEO and it's use. I have had a smattering of other small successes with some affiliate marketing (I am talking in the 1's of dollars HAHA).
As for my failures, I have so many I can not list them all. I had a adult niche site that tried to use hubtraffic, but I found out you need hundreds of thousands of views to make anything decent with that. I tried a make money online site, that I just couldnt really focus on the content. I tried some membership sites and couldnt seem to figure out how to swing it so that people would want to sign up. I also tired my hand at some amazon - ebay dropshipping before it was the cool thing to do. To summarize, take a spin through the money making methods forum and click on a random method and I probably tried it for one reason or another.
Well, that is as much as I want to put in the introduction, it is exhausting thinking about all the time spent on some of these projects. I will try and fill in the history while updating the current journey.
Current projects are continued development of the etsy, a secondary shop in a similar niche, and alot more social media involvement with the use of Follow Liker.
Goal: 1k monthly with semi automated shop (second shop)
Feel free to criticize and comment as you wish, I do not mind a bit of healthy criticism.
