I have been hesitant about the idea of starting a journey. I thought to myself that I would only start a journey once I had found something that worked. Then people would care what I had to say. I now know after reading through several of these journeys that my favorite things ti read is how something failed. I like to see what they tried and how it did not work.

Thus, begins my story, about 7 years after it has started. I have been dabbling in the field of internet marketing, but I had been busy with my studies for my masters in biomedical engineering. I have finished and I have been "hardcore dabbling now for about a year. I have had my ups and downs, and I kept telling myself that I would keep track of all of this so that I could come back and write a good guide as to how I got where I am. Well that fell through.

So, here is my guides reincarnation. I will be trying to keep a fairly frequent log of my going ons and try and keep them informative so that it may help some future generation.

I will try and first start by getting everyone up to speed that is interested. I originally started lurking on BHW and some other sites about 7 years ago. I always liked BHW but never had the time to devote to anything on it. I didnt even register until last year when I felt obligated to thank someone for a download. After that I experienced some moderate success and got hooked. Since it will be quicker lets start with my success.

My wife and I have a pretty good business of selling goods online from Etsy and our store. These are mostly hand made, props and such so I wouldnt call it internet market. We have been able to bring in about 1-3k per month with this business across etsy, our website, and ebay. When starting out, I did have to perform some minor SEO and I could noticeably see the difference in traffic and conversion in our shops. This was my proverbial "Ah-Ha" moment about SEO and it's use. I have had a smattering of other small successes with some affiliate marketing (I am talking in the 1's of dollars HAHA).

As for my failures, I have so many I can not list them all. I had a adult niche site that tried to use hubtraffic, but I found out you need hundreds of thousands of views to make anything decent with that. I tried a make money online site, that I just couldnt really focus on the content. I tried some membership sites and couldnt seem to figure out how to swing it so that people would want to sign up. I also tired my hand at some amazon - ebay dropshipping before it was the cool thing to do. To summarize, take a spin through the money making methods forum and click on a random method and I probably tried it for one reason or another.

Well, that is as much as I want to put in the introduction, it is exhausting thinking about all the time spent on some of these projects. I will try and fill in the history while updating the current journey.

Current projects are continued development of the etsy, a secondary shop in a similar niche, and alot more social media involvement with the use of Follow Liker.

Goal: 1k monthly with semi automated shop (second shop)

Feel free to criticize and comment as you wish, I do not mind a bit of healthy criticism.

This is going to be an interesting journey to follow! Are you planning on using FL for instagram only or other platforms as well?

I currently use it for IG and twitter. I have personally found that when using a call to action, my conversion rate (comparing IG, twitter, and paid Facebook ads) is higher on twitter. Which my "ads" on twitter and IG are free, but honestly I have not gained much traction on FB with my secondary shop.

I also remember that I registered to thank someone for a download. It was a WSO. Good luck with your journey.

Maybe I should write out some kind of a goal. To be honest, I just want the freedom to make enough to travel with my wife and daughter and not be tied down to one spot. When I started this journey, I had that goal in mind. Somehow, the first Etsy shop got a little too involved though, with my wife and I having to pull some full 8 hour days filling orders. I know that is a "normal" day, but the goal was to not have to work a normal day of work.

My current goal is to reach $1-3k monthly with the secondary shop which is mostly what I like to call 1-click homemade goods!

As a side note, the first shop on Etsy has been open for 2 years with "1 click homemade goods" and the second about 8 months. So, this is not one of those drop ship Etsy shops that are being banned all the time.

Today, my goal is to clean up an old information site I have with a nice url. I am going to install some WP plugins (Divi, sociallocker, signinlocker, monarch) and pretty up a logo with photoshop. My major goal for the day is to pick a color scheme.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day making sure that Yoast was fully implemented on shop site 2 and that all the social media accounts were connected (G+, Twitter, IG, Pinterest) I use a plugin called SNAP (Social Network Auto Posting) to share my posts across all these networks (and Stumble Upon) all at once. I schedule my posts to usually fire some time after 18:00 PST. If I am feeling Super good, I will retweet my tweet another 4 times that night every 1-2 hours (this is based off a study of post engagement, roughly stating a tweet has a life span of about 26 minutes and up to 6 retweets of a post is about critical mass of engagement)

I get it that some of my change amounts are off, I am tired and I didnt feel like pulling out the calculator. Over all everything has gone up. The info site is pretty much just sitting in place, but I also have not been running anything on it, but just constructing the site.

I took a break this last 2 days to attend to some other business, so I could not dedicate as much time as I would have liked to the sites. I am about to run a campaign on shop 2 to start pushing a Franklin product (free after shipping) which has seen mixed results in the past. That campaign will go through until monday of next week.

My main promotion will be tweets and IG and light FB promotion, but no paid ads. I am currently still joining FB groups.
