Hey guys,

Let me start this thread that is slight different than others you saw on this forum..

I've made new native (Objective-C) mobile app for IOS (apple market), on subject 21.12.2012 (end of the world).

App has a list of bunkers,shelters,.. all over the world (100k locations - scraped with my custom PHP script from google maps) and latest News on that subject.. Also countdown is included

My price on market is 0,99$ ...

What I've done so far:
- I've created app an posted it on istore..
- Created facebook group called (Shelter Finder 21.12.2012) - promoted it with 50? on Facebook promotion
- posted link on some faceook pages that contains 21.12.2012
- created wordpress page ([h][tt][p]://shelterfinder.net)

-> Total sale: 50x0,99$

To do:
- post on forums
- post on chats
- promote more on fb
- make youtube video (buy some credits)

- still working on video
- bought some fiverr gigs for forum posting..

Interesting case study, when it comes and goes will you rebrand the app? There are a lot of doomsdayers out there that believe the end of the world is coming (just not on that specific date).

great idea, Have you tried a press release or adwords ? I remember there being member who wrote press releases for fair pricing

Hmm the thing here is that some statistics show that if you make 1$ on android market you will make 5$ on apple.. This is why I decided for this version.. And I didn't have enough time to develop both.. maybe if I went to HTML5 applications (phonegap) at start I could offer on both market but I wanted performance this is why I went to native iOS development.. Mabye in future I will make app for Google play also but it all depends on the response now.. I think at 12:30 I get results for sales for yestarday and I will let you know!

Heres a nice idea how to extend / improve your app with further information:

Survival tips:
- How to filter water
- How to make weapons (Bow, Crossbow, Spear, ...)
- How to hunt, make traps
- Whats edible?
- Selfdefense Tips, Techniques,...
- First Aid

Useful stuff:
- How to bypass a car
- How to pick locks
- How to build a shelter
- How to store food
- ...

After the given date you could reselle it as iSurvive, iSurvivor, iSurvived,...

Also very important to include in your app: How to charge your iphone/ipad when there is no power
Otherwise they can't use your app lol
