Core updates happen +- quarterly and it's been over 4months since the last update so we have a strong reason to believe something big will happen soon right?

If I was to guess, it will happen in September and Barry Schwartz thinks the same - https://www.seroundtable.com/seos-anxiously-awaiting-google-core-update-30014.html

What do you guys think? Am I the only one looking forward to the next algo update?

Didn't we already have an update on 15 and 16 August? It's been discussed here already.
Do you want another update?

Google had major updates at the end of April & July. The July update pushed the authority sites to the next level which is suffocating them to death. The spamming increased 2-fold and they are doing everything they can to get out of the situation. Google may focus on content for the next 1 year, which is a challenge for them.

I don't think that we did. It was a glitch and was reverted. Also, Google tends to announce core updates on twitter

April and July? Im not sure what Google you guys using but the update that I noticed on my websites happened on 4th May and havn't seen anything significant ever since (aparat from some glitches that were reverted)

The updates are almost continuous.

We had a major update in October 2019, another pretty major one in Nov 2019. Dec and Jan had minor updates. January's update reversed October's for quite a few sites. Look at various sites and you'll see Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan as being big ups or downs.

It was calm through feb/march, but then april WAS an update. What actually happened was a ton of sites increased their traffic a lot in april, then decreased back down to what they were in feb/march with the may update.

May was a MAJOR update though. They don't come that often. About once a year. Medic in sep 2018, the Oct 2019.

June had an update again. 2 in fact. One on the 9th or 10th, and another on the 22nd(iirc)

Mostly minor reversals of may for some.

There was another update around aug 14th or so.

They are almost constant.

You just don't notice when you only have one site. I notice because I'm tracking 100's of client sites so it's very obvious when there's algorithm updates.

some say it was a gliche and some say it was not even an update but one of my sites went from 1000+ visitors a day to 300 on the 15th of august. still have not recovered

I feel like there's something happening at the moment. I have a few e-commerce websites in different niches and the quality of the traffic seems to be up and down.

Some e-commerce websites that I've neglected also seem to get bursts of traffic that I don't think they deserve.

Very strange.

Why do you assume I only run one website? Obviously Google is updating constantly but again Im talking about CORE UPDATES the ones that get announced on twitter and so on (don't want to be rude but if I read one more post with "Google updates constantly" in it I swear to god someone is gonna get knock the fu*k out XD)

Yes Ive noticed a lot of low quality, abounded sites start ranking well all of the sudden

Google don't really make "glitches" :)

It was an update that went wrong. They just would never say that.
Everyone makes glitches by accident, Google is no exception. Update that went wrong is the definition of a glitch

Why are you so angry?

You come on here asking for help/advice, and you react with anger threatening to knock people out?

I assume you only have one website, because most people have very few websites. The vast majority are not managing 100's of client sites. And if you WERE then you would quite clearly see all the updates that happen.

You can either choose to learn, or you can choose to be angry/right.

Either way, you won't get anymore help from me.

So when I mentioned knocking people out I also added "XD" at the end to emphasise that it was just a joke. Didn't mean to offend you and Im sorry that you felt this way.

Glitch - a sudden, usually temporary malfunction or fault of equipment (oxford dictionary).
Maybe, the update wasn't exactly what they wanted but it was NOT a glitch.

I think there is an update currently underway, this week I lost again half of the visitors after the May update

If you wait to be announced by Guugle on twitter about updates means you are in the wrong business, and if you do whatever BS eat google team on twitter posts then again you are in the wrong business!

Not gonna argue what a glitch is but if you try to make something better and you mess it up instead that sounds like a glitch to me. Google wanted to improve their search results but they ended up glitching them instead. Also Barry Schwartz says it was a glitch so it must be a glitch right? (just kiddin)

Sorry to hear that

I don't even have twitter but thanks. All I wanted to say is that I think the big update could happen soon I was wondering if you guys feel the same (apparently not).
