So I can't rank my site anymore? Damn it. I have to be an advertiser.
Yes, it's true. GG result pages look like a mess now.The updates from the past several months have made Google more like a website, where products and services are directly showed on their search pages instead of only linking towards websites. This has completely changed the search behavior, where users no longer need to go to the website. Should Google pay the websites for showing their content? Google is not a search engine anymore.

They've tatally monopolized the marketBing, ask, etc. are not living up to expectation. So, Google can do whatever it wants. It almost has no competitor, and this is sad.

Oh and as an aside...
With all of the developments in Ai content creation tools, albeit early days, what content do you think will be ranking and showing to searchers in the future...
Yours or the content generated by search engine Ai's?
They have access to your searches, they have access to peoples emails (well over 95% of the emails I collect are gmail), they have access to your location, they have access to virtually all your data...
...they know us better than we know ourselves.
They will be able to create content tailored to your wants and needs on the fly.
How are you going to compete with that?
I'm not normally a fan of over regulation, but these non elected, undemocratic behemoths need to have their power reigned in asap or thay will control society from the top to the bottom.
I hear what you are saying, but somehow we need to have open access to data rather than what the tech giants want to feed us.Don't ask regulation from states since things will go even worse. regulation isn't the solution. i know these are huge monopolies but, we need to evolve and change the way of our approach of driving traffic. On the other hand keep in mind that. These guys somehow chronies to the state itself.
well said.but also part of a much broader an issue of privacy and freedom.
They do this because they have no competition. Search= Google for most people.
