I think this post collides with x is dead, but I want to talk from my POV. Maybe it will make a difference.
I've seen it in a couple of threads.
Your stats are from 2015. They must be outdated these days. They definitely don't work.
Truth to be told, it doesn't work that way.
It's not about the age of a method, it's about whether if you can still put all the pieces together and make it happen. If you can, then it's working.
Think of the unlisted method from youtube. Does it works? Maybe, but it's ineffective. Why? Because it was patched, right?
If it wouldn't have been patched? Would it have been working? Hell yeah!
Who knows? Maybe they will make an update which will create a bug/exploit and you can use this method again.

Or about clickbank. People are getting smarter nowadays blah blah. If they would, there'd be no point on clickbank running anymore.
I was checking their stats, and overall the products are actually getting more and more gravity(and possibly popularity).

Now, one of the traps which I see a lot, is actually reading a post of someone who said something like:
"Ahh, man! Facebook, seo was so easy back in x. Now it's so difficult".
No, it's not like that. Don't be deceived by words. It was easy from their POV. Not yours. SEO was more or less, the same. There were still 10 places on 1st page, and the most important thing, you still had competitors.
That's right. And if it was easy for them, then it was easy for their competitors too.
You still had to work on on-page/off-page, althought it was less restrictive, true.
But if back then, with such a low entry barrier, someone said it was easy, then think how easier is now, if you put all the pieces together correctly.

People are the same from the moment they started to use their rational part.
There were doubters, gossipers, wankers and god tier guys, just like now.
Now, choose which of the listed above you want to be.
The psyhology tricks works more or less the same. They even work on me, even though I'm aware of them. It's only a matter of getting something that I'm interested.
