I was taking a look at thereforest and saw hundreds of themes and I was curious as to how they made it. Personally, I doubt they were done by coding every css line. I am guessing it was done with software like Dreamweaver. Am I right?

Photoshop and CSS.

No. Themeforest is part from envato and in short words, it is community which includes a marketplace where everyone can share/sell their themes/plugins/other web tools (under different circumstances). And a wordpress theme as is, can not be completely made just by designing it with drag and drop in dreamviewer as the wordpress themes include wordpress' own codex

You're joking right?
Themeforest is just a marketplace where thousands of developers sell their stuff.

You're wrong. Many of them special theme. And very comprehensive, analytical themes.

They have a team of developers behind them. (Generally a serious team) And they are constantly making improvements.

Most of them are web software specialists. They know languages like PHP, JS, CSS.

Sometimes it takes months to make these themes. Sure, it's not simple. They don't do it with ready programs.

(I'm also a theme developer myself)

themeforest is a platform for to share and sell themes ,peoples who have grip on html/css/javascript they join Tforest for to sale their work

It's a marketplace
You can buy or sell themes there.
You can see the author bio under every theme preview page.
And Dreamviewer is just a soft to see how your website looks and to code in realtime. So if you are into developing themes you need to learn coding to do that

Expert developers usually make multiple versions of their themes and then sell them. Obviously it takes a lot of time to make a good one and they are not sold for high prices. But in the long run if you look at the amount of sales you can get they get a good amount of time compared to the actual hours worked. It's plenty of developers and you can notice that by just looking at the quality of the tempaltes.

Themeforest is a marketplace then developers create their own themes and sells them on themeforest, as it's a marketplace it takes a small % from every theme sold I think.

Completely wrong. All the code has been written by hand (even if they use their own frameworks, someone has to write/maintain it). Depending on its complexity, a theme can take months or even years to develop.

Thanks for the insight guys

Yes the probabaly sub develop them. Let other developers make the themes for them.

I'm sure a good template takes over 6 months to developer but can be used for multiple themes. also some themes requires customs plugins to have nore powerful features these are usually the better ones
